iPod Classic - turn repeat or shuffle off

iPod Classic - turn repeat or shuffle off
I am not sure I'm in the right place. I just purchased a 2015 Fit EX-L with Navi.
I plug in my iPod (6th generation 160GB) and everything works. Its easy to set the iPod to shuffle either albums or songs but how do I turn shuffle off? Same for repeat. Turning repeat on is easy... but there is no feed back that it is on and there is no way I can find to turn it off.
Has anyone figured this out?
