2015 Fit EX-L. Any way to install Navigation yourself and save money?

First post guys!
I am currently deciding which model to choose and the difference between EX-L and EX-L w/Nav is about $1000 so I was thinking of getting the non nav and getting it working myself. Has anyone done that here and what results did you get?
By the way I know I can do navigation with a phone or tablet!
Thanks!

Two words: Google Maps. Way cheaper and portable and has different views on it.

Yes I know that. I still would like to know if it's possible.

From what I've read the Nav program is contained on an SD card, but that card is locked to your VIN so it is impossible/would take a good bit of hacking and know how, to get it to function with another card. Only other way would be to have an iPhone and link it up with the Honda app they sell for 50 bucks. This routes the GPS app through the HDMI by enabling the display while in motion, but only for that app. Otherwise the lockout is done by a physical switch in the Park position (on CVT, not sure where it is on the 6MT, parking break maybe). Hopefully they can integrate Android Auto for us non-apple folk.

Thank you. If anyone else has anything else to add regarding the navigation do-it-yourself please do.
