Subwoofer install - Anyone have under the seat dimensions?

I'm thinking about adding a sub, hopefully compact with built in amp.

Anyone have dimensions for under the seat?

I see various people have recommended the Kenwood. Though I see Pioneer also makes a similar unit though it looks like it has a larger footprint.

You know that the fuel tank is under the front seats right?

I have the Kicker powered sub, although there are many others out there too.

Where did you install it and how much space did you have to sacrifice.

I talked with an installer and his opinion was the all in one units were not even worth it.

With the way I have this installed, my 8" powered Kicker sub is actually stronger than my 10" JL Audio Wedge sub using a conventional amp. The Kicker is 150w RMS (10% distortion) or 125w RMS at less than 1%.

Whereas my JL Audio is about 125w to 140w RMS based on the amps that I've used. Note that I have never installed my JL sub in my Fit, so I can't directly compare.

I like the remote gain (not bass boost) knob. Although I wish that it had the better gain/frequency knob in the Kenwood systems. The Kenwood is 75w RMS, whereas the Kicker is 150w RMS.

Thanks for your responses.

Where exactly did you place the Kicker? The cargo area? If so did it prevent access to the spare tire and tools?

I guess part of my confusion was I saw in one of the existing threads the Kenwood was recommended. But looking at the pictures I see it was just placed on the floor behind the front seats.

I have full access to my tools. The only time that I need to disconnect the sub and remove my Frankenstein cargo cover, is when I need to access the spare.

The sub is literally hanging over the spare, but a bit towards the front of the car, so it's not in the way.

My Kenwood KSC-SW11 fit perfectly under the passenger seat. Its pretty tight though, I'm not sure anything bigger would fit.

Sounds pretty good too IMO.
