Handbrake signal OFF DIY !!!!
Hell to all guys herre at Fitfreak.
If you like to watch movies all the time or use the HDMI here is the key.
First you have to remove your headunit.
Behind the unit there you have to unplug the connector on the picture below.
Cut the blue wire.
Tighten and isolate the blue cable which comes from the car to the unit.
The other side of the blue cable which comes out of the unit you have to connect with the metal chassis of the headunit to ground it.
All features of the handbrake are still there. No fault code nothing.
Thats it
Have Fun

Not sure how this would work for the USDM Fit. The CANBUS sends a signal to the HU for the SVC (speed volume control) so even with the brake wire signal clipped, soon as you start moving, the HDMI locks out, least here in the USDM Fit. There is a VSP Error disable in the diagnostic screens, but with your auto climate controls and auto transmission, that may cause other features not to work, but it does prevent the HDMI lockout.

Correct, there is a normally open switch for the handbrake. when engaged it closes and grounds the lead. In regards to the OEM HU though, I don't think this would fix the HDMI lockout. Soon as you start moving the HU locks out the video input as its receiving the CANBUS data of the cars speed for the SVC feature. In fact I know this because i can leave the handbrake lightly engaged, start moving, and then have the HDMI lockout. Who knows, maybe the 2017 HU is slightly different than my previous 2015. Soon as I have a chance to investigate I'll report back.
