GK Fit DIY rear disk brake conversion
GK Fit DIY rear disk brake conversion
Greetings Fit Freaks! I currently own a 2015 Fiesta ST, totally stock, and recently ordered a 2020 Fit Sport manual with HFP package as a daily driver while I put my FiST on backup duty (I commute 100 miles a day, so I want to keep mileage down on the Ford).
I am looking to do a rear disk brake conversion of the Fit after I get it in order to balance out 4-piston Wilwood calipers topping off the stock front rotors. I am not interested in a big-brake front conversion or 6-piston calipers. I am looking for a modest upgrade for street driving, not a monster setup that will add unnecessary unsprung mass. I will pair it with 17-inch Enkei RPF1 wheels and ultra high-performance summer tires (the 16-inch wheels will wear studded tires during the Alaska winters).
I see that a. Fit/Jazz RS rear disk conversions are offered, and b. others have done DIY rear-disk brake conversions for 1st and 2nd generation Fits. I don't think I am interested in the RS conversion because it's pretty expensive, and I don't know if replacement parts will be available from a dealer. Those parts would probably have to be sourced from Japan with long lead times. I was interested in a DIY conversion, not necessarily based on initial purchase price, but rather on the economics and ease of getting parts when the pads or rotors wear out. I liked how DIY setups allow a driver to go to a local Honda dealership, a Mini dealership for one entrepreneurial setup, or a Midas garage and get parts easily.
So here are my questions three: 1. Are the rotors and pads for the RS conversion interchangeable with any past USDM 4-lug Integra or Civic parts? 2. If not, is there a viable DIY USDM 4-lug Integra or Civic rear disk brake conversion?, and 3. For kicks and giggles, because I really like the Wilwood 4-piston caliper and stock rotors flexibility, are there any out-of-the-box ideas like the Mini rotor/Integra caliper front brake setup that has been successful with past generations?
Some background: I want rear disks because standing water on the highway can really temporarily wreck drums' stopping power. I have searched this forum and have found nothing about DIY for the GK generation, and I haven't found information anywhere on the Internet regarding the specifications of the GK RS rear disk conversion. I have found information on the apportioning valve automatically compensating for the rear disk brake conversion, but new parking brake lines are necessary. I am quite confident the Wilwood setup and a rear disk brake conversion will be sufficient for my wants/needs.
Some more background: My goal with the GK Fit is to make it as much fun as my Fiesta ST though not as quick. My first mod will be the HFP springs (included in my car's order) added to the RPF1 wheels and probably Continental summers. I will then add an MFactory LSD this fall (helps with winter grip, and has the knock-on effect of improving cornering). I will lighten the load on the front by replacing the factory battery with an Odyssey lightweight battery. I will then get the RV6 downpipe and Spoon catback exhaust added to a lightweight pulley set. My interim crank horsepower goal is 135-140hp. When the engine turns over 100,000 miles, I would like to get forged connecting rods, 12.5:1 pistons and dyno tune the engine to 150hp. This may sound modest as far as hp goals go, but I can honestly say my Fiesta ST is overpowered for my needs. I don't track it, and I am at about 40-percent throttle on my favorite country stretch of road. To be honest, the Fit Sport with stock engine, sticky tires, and limited-slip diff should be plenty of fun.
I appreciate any help you can offer.

I've been meaning to do this too, just need to find some money. This is the source he posted before, uses Infinity G37 pads.
