185/65/15 Winter Tires

Does anyone know if 185/65/R15 tire would fit on the Honda fit third gen?

I've used some tire size calculators but in practice I don't know if that is too large to fit in the wheel wells for turning?

I had Michelin X-Ice3's in 185/60/15 with no issues.

Unfortunately I already know that 185/60/15 should fit as that is the OEM installed size.
I was more so wondering about 185/65/15 which is slightly larger. See OP for the exact size difference.

Got a friend offering me a set in that size for a good price and I'd like to save some cash by doing that.

I don't have a 3rd Gen Fit, but based on the schematic you attached it's clear that the size difference is small.

1) If you will be mounting the new tires on your stock wheels, or using wheels with the same backspacing, you shouldn't have interference with the suspension as both tires under consideration are the same width.

2) The 185/65 tire is 0.8 inches taller, but remember that half of that difference will be below the axle. So, do you have 0.4 inches of free space in the wheel well around your current 185/60 tires? Here's a quick check: can you stick your fingers between your tire and the fender (my fingers are about 0.5 inches thick)? I suspect you have plenty of room as the stock Fit is not exactly known for filling the wheel wells.

As a point of comparison, when you go from a new tire (approximately 10/32 inch tread) to a worn out tire (approximately 2/32) you're losing about 0.25 inches of tread, and no one worries about that change. The difference you're talking about is not much bigger than that. If you search through the many tire threads on FitFreak you'll see folks who've made far more drastic changes vs the stock size, as well as folks who've lowered their cars while upsizing their tires.

So, I wouldn't worry about fit, I would be more worried about changing the speedo and odometer, but that's just me.
