Snow Tire Pictures

I ordered them yesterday from tirerack, and they arrived today. These will be going on an EX, but they're sized for the LX. Apparently, a narrower snow tire is better - same diameter, though. Slightly over 10/32" tread depth. Michelin X-Ice 3.

We are having a heat wave with temps above 100, so your post on snow tires put a smile on my face. At 9:30am it was already 102.

Depends on which wheel and tire package you get. Mine was a touch over $700 including shipping.

Too much! Each tire cost $89, and the wheels were the same. Delivery was $104.48, but I get a $70 rebate from Michelin. Total was $816.48. The wheels will last for the life of the car. I didn't get the air pressure sensors.

Living in CT, its essentially the climate of Hoth. Studded snow tires are a must around here, though limited to certain months out of the year since they chew up the road.

I think these graphics speak for themselves when it comes to winter...least for the northeast...

Still waiting on our Aegean Blue EX/MT, at this rate we may not have a chance to drive on the stock tires before we have to slap on the snows.

I agree with keeping winter tires narrow, planning on 185/65-15's - more tires to choose from and we'll get a hair more clearance. Probably bronze/titanium or gunmetal alloys (I'm liking the 5or6 x 2 spoke look) and General Altimax Arctics. I wish TireRack and DiscountTire would get the 15 Fit into their visualizers, this should give you the idea.

Until then, preparing a winter survival kit, there should be plenty of room in the back for it.

It's sort of like 130° F - something you don't enjoy, but you do the best you can.

i just got my snows as well. i went slightly taller, using a 185/65-15 General Altimax arctic. i wnet taller for reduced gearing, more snow clearance and increased traction. i will be putting them on steelies though.

My winter tires/wheels arrived today, and in spite of it being a perfect 72° with clear skies and no wind, I went ahead and put them on so folks (including myself) can see what they look like on the car.

The wheels are 15x6 Sport Tuning T9 with a +43 offset (required a centering ring), and the tires are 185/60R-15 Firestone Winterforce. Tire Rack includes the correct lugs at "no charge" (I'm sure I paid for them in there somewhere!). TPMS sensors are not needed, of course.

I'm pretty happy with them! No interference issues, either.

i don't know about u guys, but here in NJ, you are not allowed to put on snow tires until Nov. 15. Besides isn't it too hot anyway for the composite rubber that they use for winter tires.

edit: nevermind the laws are for studded tires.

Yep, these will come off next week when my "summer" wheels arrive and I get the tires mounted.

[QUOTE=SilverEX15;1264324]I ordered them yesterday from tirerack, and they arrived today. These will be going on an EX, but they're sized for the LX. Apparently, a narrower snow tire is better - same diameter, though. Slightly over 10/32" tread depth. Michelin X-Ice 3.

Why did you go with the X-Ice 3 and not the Bridgestone Blizzak? I notice that the Michelins cost more then the Bridgestones, and I see a lot of comparisons between the two.

The X-Ice has always been top-rated or near the top, we've used them for years, and there was a $70 rebate. Tread life has been very good.

for the last 15 years, i have had cheap snow tires, blizzaks (multiple types), firestone winterforce, hankook ipike and general altimax artic.

for the $, and the amount of miles i drive, i have settled on the altimax for the last 4 seasons. very impressed with the tire. the firestone is better in deepish snow, but not as good on ice and ice covered snow.

my 185/65-15 generals were $300 list minus $40 web savings and $50 rebate, NET: $210. 15" Steelies are $169 new.

*Edit* if anyone is close to ny, i will hook you up with (5) 14" artics on steelies with 1 season on them for $200...
