Tire Tread Life

Tire Tread Life
One of our 2015 Fits has about 24,000 miles on it's original tires, with 4/32" of tread left. Snow tires have been on the car for about 7,000 miles, so the total mileage on the car is a little over 31k. Original tires don't usually last too long, so I'm hope a new set of Michelins will fare better. I'm looking at the Michelin Premieres.

Mine has 20,000 miles, and while tread life is still good, they are the most flat prone tires I have ever owned. Hardly a month goes by without another puncture. My other car, over the same rout, has never had any.

I survived the winter with the original Firestones last winter season (when the car was new) and they held up pretty good given that I am a big fan of winter tires. Fast forward 26,000 miles later and this winter season: I have slid through a stop sign once to the middle of the intersection and almost rear ended twice. I could have squeezed another 20,000 miles out of them given non-winter weather. I know others would have thrown these tires to the recycler by now.
I do mostly hwy miles and I am somewhat dissapointed with the thread life. A side note: the rear tires wore out almost as much as the front tires. I did not even bother with tire rotation. I never had this happen before on my previous vehicles. I get excellent fuel economy and don't think there's any misalignment since the tires wore out evenly.
So I got my winter tires installed last weekend and what a world of a difference it makes.
I will be selling the oem's for dirt cheap on craigslist. Not worth keeping. Never had punctures or any issues with the oem's. They were ok tires that just got the job done.
