Once I dumped the oe Bridgestones, the recurrent false alarms have gone away with the Michelins.

The Honda FIt's passive TPMS system has lead me to make sure I have a good tire pressure gauge with me IN the vehicle.
I mean?
How can you really ignore it?
So for me? When it illuminates, I pull over and check.
Better safe than sorry.

On my 2015 Fit, the TPMS is temperature sensitive. Mostly if the temp drops suddenly … this week the temp has gone from the upper 40s to the mid 70s … tomorrow morning is supposed to hit the mid 20s … no joke..

11 years later...no false alerts from our GD Fit and they still work.

Several false alerts from our '17 Golf that also uses the indirect (aka. no actual) sensor method.

No false alerts from my '13 Lincoln that also has actual sensors.

I'm glad the Fit has that system. Paying $100 for more for each wheel sensor can add a lot to the price of a new set of wheels. The best system I ever had was one I added to my motorcycle. It had a display that showed the actual temperature and pressure in each tire. You can buy systems like that for cars, but the price is too high and the importance too low.

I think you've discovered the reason for the false alarms.

Definitely! Once I got a genuine TPMS warning. I was a couple of hours from home, and one tire was down a few pounds. I didn't have my pump with me, so I stopped at an auto parts store and bought one. After pumping it up, I didn't have to add air again.

By the way, a good valve cap is important. A man from a tire company gave a presentation at a motorcycle rally, and he said that the Schrader valve can sometimes be jolted by bumps in the road and not hold back the tire pressure. A good quality metal cap will keep the air in. I like the type with the little valve tool on top.

Read the 2019 needs to reset with buttons on steering wheel from a recent threat about TPMS reset. You can search for that.
Right. I was the one who posted the question. Unfortunately, searching in the new, streamlined Owners Manual will not help. There is over a page of text about the TPMS, but no mention of how to reset (Calibrate) it. After posting here and searching online, I learned about the calibration procedure. Unless you know the terminology that Honda uses for the steering wheel controls, you'd never find the article.

My 2015 has the reset button to the left of the steering wheel, but I sometimes have to go through the process several times before it will reset.

Basically, the Fit's TPMS is a required, imperfect system that can warn of low pressure in one tire - or not.

The system sucks. I live in the snow belt. I've had it go off when my wheels were packed full of snow or because of wheel slippage? All four air pressure were within a pound of each other and within two pounds of the recommended pressure on the door.

Related question - Are Honda TPMS sensors universal?

Does anyone know if TPMS sensor valve stems for late model Hondas are universal? Specifically, will a set of Odyessy sensors for sale on Ebay work on a 2019 Fit? Is there some programming with these sensors, or do OEM Honda sensors automatically recognize new ones if they are installed?
Thanks!
