What did my apt. bldg. do for my Fit?

As I pondered, weak and weary, after pouring over the last tax return, I heard a crash, Was thunder, nothing more. Alas a neighbor came knocking, knocking at my chamber door.

That was strange, since I live on the 10th floor, last room next to the stairs. New neighbor I had only seen once before. The crash was part of the brick facia that has fallen up front into the parking lot. Parts of the 10th and 11th floor crashed just outside the barrier that workmen had placed over the entrance. Bricks and fragments showered the unprotected portion.

No one was hurt, but one lousy brick made a direct hit at the keyhole on the driver/s side of a red Fit. Other smaller pieces left marks along that side and a couple on the hatch.

There were high winds when the portion of the exterior wall fell, the building is over 60 years old and there have been heavy rains for two months. I'd guess a 8x12 foot section fell.

Now let's seen whose insurance company is quickest.

Not yet, but soon. I have a small set on my cheap ass phone and building management is supposed to file attachment tomorrow. I wasn't allowed to move the Fit until this morning. Movement of cones and raising of yllow tape. I discovered more minor scrapes and a larger one in the hatch. No glass or sunroof.

BTW, I live on the 10th floor or an 11 story building, an old building. I've already called my insurance carrier and I'll let them it battle it out with the building management/contractors. A friend made me a present of a walking cane so I can negotiate the grassy slopes and the steep temporary ramps at the single exit.

That sucks. Hopefully they fix it and don't give you too much trouble.
