Looking for more low end torque . 08 5 speed

Just curious what kind of mods I can do to increase low-end torque. I know about high performance head gaskets but I'm trying to keep things simple. Any thoughts or advice would be welcomed. Thank you, ScienceGuy

Almost all of the options are discussed in this thread...

The Fit has a lot of positive attributes, but low-end torque is not one of them. Since you say you want to keep things simple (which I'd imagine would preclude a turbo, cams, any actual performance-enhancing stuff), I'd say if low-end torque is super important to you, your best bet is to trade your Fit in for something with more displacement and/or a factory turbo.

Agree. It's just not what the Fit was designed for.

If you want low end torque, you;re not going to find much to be honest below 3k without going turbo. Even the Kraftwerks S/C kit doesn't make much torque down low (more than peak stock numbers power and torque wise under 3k but nothing crazy).

Mid range though, 3k to 5k all motor? Hondata Flash Pro (for tuning) with a good fuel and ignition tune, aFe Stage 2 intake (discontinued, good luck finding), a really good header like T1R's Response Header (discontinued and hard to find), and one step colder spark plugs are a good starting point. Weapon R, Megan Racing, DME (currently on clearance via eBay), and a few others have headers for the GD3 for sale.

I wouldn't advise in test pipe at all since that would shift your power/torque band higher up in RPMs and be a noticeable loss in low end performance even when tuned.

I have an 08 fit sport automatic with dcsports header and dcsports short cold air intake and denso ik plugs on my custom T-rex replica. Getting ready to get exhaust completed. So I have 2 motorcycle K-tuned mufflers which have a straight thru design. More like resonators. I was going to have a shop make a Y pipe to go straight from the header to both mufflers with no cat in between since it's a short distance but will I lose performance? I am planning to eventually get a flashpro from E-Tunez.com because they offer a combo deal with tuning map included and a great discount. Would like to hear some thoughts on this. I'm not looking to race this but more like running it's best. Do I need a high-flow cat or something between header and mufflers or will this run fine with header straight to both mufflers? Again, these motorcycle mufflers are not like car mufflers that have chambers. More like straight thru design like resonators. If I can do without spending about 800 for flashpro and tune, I would be happy but I would like to hear your advice.

scienceguy, try these simple ideas

You are a scienceguy, use physics to your advantage:
1) lightweight rims (less unsprung weight, less rotating mass)
2) small diameter tires (besides being lighter, they will give you a mechanical advantage. Look for less than 23” diameter)
3) add lightness to your car (as per Colin Chapmen). Avoid unnecessary weight.

Something else you might try:
1) install Denso IK22 plugs gapped at about 0.032”. They are one step colder than OEM plugs. The smaller gap helps ignition, and seems to promote spark coil life
2) try 91 octane gas (will help to deter knock)

I know these ideas work as I’ve used these on my “07 GD3 for the past 360K miles. These practices may not actually add torque to your Fit, but you will feel like you did.

If you really want to experience noticeable torque, a Turbo would be a good choice.
