Brand New Battery Installed, No response when pressing Start/Stop Button

Hello, 2015 Fit EX-L with CVT. When I press the Start stop button, whether with a new battery (Just replaced since old one was worn out/bulging), jump starting it, I get no response from start/stop button. Brake lights come on, Headlights come on When I press the start/stop button but thats it. No lights on the dash, no radio, no beeps, nothing. It also doesn't respond to the key fob/keyless entry, door locks don't work either, had to use the key to open and click the lock/unlock button. No response from on the button on the door handle outside or the electronic lock button on the inside. In addition, no response from trunk button to open the trunk.

Only things other thing that indicates the car has power is Interior lights will come on if I turn them on manually but don't turn on when I open/close the door.

Worked fine when I parked it 2 months ago (was away). Any ideas? Bad relay, bad fuse, or computer module I should be looking at?

I'm scratching my head as I've never experienced such a failure on a start/stop button car that's this new that didn't have any warning signs before hand.

Welcome. I've long suspected that the circuit design for the GK5 pushbutton start models is inadequate to buffer the load at startup. As a result, both the start switch and the starter fail prematurely, many just out of warranty. Reports of starter failure in key start models seem to be almost nonexistent compared to pushbutton start, so that's my conjecture.

Search this subforum for details. There have been reports where either the switch or starter were replaced, only to discover the other was at fault.

I have a key start model, and when my starter went out it was a gradual failure. The starter would spin, but not engage the flywheel, and over a few months it took more and more attempts to actually start the car. Everything else worked normally. That's not saying all starter failures will happen the same way, but it was similar on an S-10 I had.

Do the start button failures normally cause the rest of the electrical issues OP is describing? I get the radio part if it's not cycling through the equivalent of key positions, but it doesn't seem like the door locks should be affected.

Found the source of the problem. There must have been a surge when I jumped the car. It toasted the main fuse on the positive terminal (100 amp). Pulled it out, opened up the 100amp window and it had blown. Already contacted honda for the part, will have it in a couple of days.

Glad you found it. Lot cheaper than a start switch or a starter.

Indeed. I'm super glad as I've replaced starters, never a fun job if it's in a hard to reach place (not sure if I need to jack up the car to get to it), which I don't have access to being an RV'er right now. Would have to go to a mechanic for something like that if it were required.

After 2 days of searching for I solution to my problem, I finally solved it.

After disconnecting the battery to install a new radio the following symptoms surfaced after reconnection:-

· Keyless FOB would not lock/unlock the doors

· Manually locking the doors from the driver’s position works, but not the back door will lock or unlock

· Lights not working

· Radio dead

· Car does not start

· Green light flashing on the Start/ Stop button at the top part

· NOTE:- The hazards do work.

SOLUTION:

Hold the FOB against the start/stop button and press the start / stop button. Does it start /stop. (This also works for a flat battery on the FOB)

Open the fuse box in the engine bay (passenger side) and look for fuse (# 21? blue) Back Up Main 15 A. It is probably blown. As an emergency, I replaced it with the daytime running lights 15 A fuse as I had none of the mini fuses.

Note my Fit is an RHD Japanese import, so the numbers might not match.
