Fuel injectors replaced at 88K under extended warranty
Fuel injectors replaced at 88K under extended warranty
88K on a 2016 LX. Check engine light came on for the very first time couple days ago. Had the code read at an auto parts store - P0420, catalytic converter error. The assumption is that raw fuel is being dumped into the cat because of fouled injectors.
Contacted Honda corporate and asked, with this VIN and error code, is my Fit covered under the extended warranty (10 yr. or 150K miles, whichever comes first) in this service bulletin?

Honda corporate said your car is in the affected VIN range, please visit your Honda dealer for service.
So I took it in this morning, and my Fit is getting new injectors as I write this, less than 48 hr. after the check engine light came on. Honda is covering both parts and labor.
Whether the fouled injectors are due to improper installation as in the service bulletin (highly doubt this) or poor design (much more likely), I still ran Top Tier fuel as often as possible, and plan to do so with the new injectors.
I have no idea whether Honda will retroactively cover repairs on injectors replaced before the service bulletin came out this year, but it's worth a shot.

Im having this issue with my 2016 with 137k miles. They’re telling me mine does not qualify for the service bulletin 22-002. How is that possible? Does anyone know when on 2016 models they started using the different fuel injectors? Dealership said it would not be covered but that Honda USA may pay for some of the repair…
Ya all scaring me but the website is saying my car has no recall. Around 2017-2018, my check engine light came on. I took it to auto zone to have battery check - good battery. I took it to an auto repair shop and all they did was just open the gas pump entrance and reclose that; and then the light went away. It still baffle me today because my way of closing my car gasoline entrance haven't change. Never saw the light again and hope I never do!
