Happened 5 days ago similar to 328isawesome's thread a couple of weeks ago except it was cylinder 4 for me instead of 2 and 39k miles instead of 40k. Check engine light came on along with steering wheel light, TPMS light, and VSA light. No warning at all - car was running fine prior to the lights. Afterwards the engine had a rough idle and would hesitate on acceleration.

The factory warranty is no longer in effect but I did buy an extended 4 yr 100k warranty through an outfit called Fidelity Warranty Services (FWS). The good news is they paid for everything. Since there is a Technical Service Bulletin out for injector failure/engine misfire on the 2015-16 Fits, I wonder if Honda would have paid for the repair? Probably depends on the dealer - if they're a-holes they may just tell you you're SOL. Anyway, FWS did pay and that's all I really care about. Parts, labor, rental came out to just under $1100.

Car is running fine again but it is concerning that the car would have an injector(s) failure at only 39K miles.

 

The fuel injectors aren't covered by powertrain warranty??? That bites....

 

I believe that the fuel injectors fall under the emissions systems warranty which is shorter than the powertrain warranty. The emissions system incidentally includes ignition system, fuel injection system, transmission control system, etc. - seems to include just about any critical and expensive part that weighs less than a sack of sand. Having all this stuff on the shorter emissions warranty rather than the longer powertrain warranty probably works out well for Honda.

 

All the more reason I am starting to hate this Honda Fit. The engineering is just sub par. Never had any of these issues on any of my vehicles.

 

So sell your vehicle and buy something else.

 

addendum:
I do want to give props to the service department at Space Coast Honda here in Florida. They have always been helpful and courteous. The service advisor they assigned to me has been first rate in all 5 of my visits. I don't want to imply that they may be an a-hole dealership as I mentioned above. They are not and I highly recommend them.

 

Depends on how you handle it. You can ask the dealer first, and if they refuse, you can take your concern to Honda corporate, at which point a district manager might get involved. The fact that it's a known issue from the TSB is in your favor.

Sometimes Honda will split the cost with you rather than pay the full repair. I suppose much depends on how much of an issue you make of it. Having injectors fail just past the warranty period is ominous; I'd go for the full repair cost, not a portion. Going on social media with your problem is another tactic I've heard some folks use.

 

Doesn't really inspire confidence does it.
