Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a no start issue. My wife almost got stranded but someone had helped her out with a jump and the car started and she made it home.

This is a 2008, manual trans, sport. When turning the key I hear a quick, successive, ticking noise and the instrument console goes crazy. Please see the videos for a more accurate description. This morning I checked the voltage at the battery and it was 12.7v. Connections on the battery were snug and not corroded. I removed and swapped the starter relay. I saw that I should check the wiring to the starter but I don't know where to find the wiring on the starter.

So my questions are, how do I specifically check the wiring on the starter and what could be possibly causing this?

How old is the battery?

 

When I had a bad cell in my battery it would do the same thing - quick clicking sound (relay is my guess) and dash icons would light up briefly. Had a charge in the battery but not enough to turn over the engine. Since your car started with a jump your battery may be the issue.

 

That is a low battery. I see that you got 12.7 v on it but the amps are gone. If you jump start it, you can take it to your local mechanic, Auto Zone, Walmart, etc and they can connect a tester to see if it's low due to the Alternator not working or the battery itself. Money is that it's the battery. A 2008 could reasonably be on it's 3rd battery including the one from the factory.

If you want to test yourself, with the car running, you should have around 13 or 14 volts at the battery. This would show that the alternator is working.
