Blower motor intermittent issue

As I continue the journey of fixing/upgrading the Fit I have a new issue I'd like to tackle. It's a bit strange because I can't always replicate it but I suspect it's an issue with the blower motor. Sometimes (maybe 2 out of 5) times when I take longer trips (2 hours or more) the AC vents will suddenly go from a full power blow to a bit of a wheeze. Using the re-circulator setting for the A/C will almost guarantee the issue occurs. As such I rarely ever use it anymore but even with only fresh air blowing the issue can pop up. If I let the car sit for a half hour or more the issue resolves. Cabin filter is clean. Could the blower motor be overheating? Is there some way I could troubleshoot the issue better?

Wheeze? Like a squeel? Not sure it the heat from the long duration makes the fan propeler seize up.

Yeah kind of hard to describe. Image if someone is blowing out the candles on a birthday cake and then suddenly they are blowing them out through a McDonalds straw. It's as if the power output just drops down to nearly nothing.
