Fit Hybrid 2011 (Japanese) Voltage drops

Hi respected forum members,

I have a Honda Fit Hybrid 2011 Model (JDM) and I have been struggling to get a battery notice issue resolved.

My mechanic has replaced complete battery pack and blower, Vehicle seems to work fine on high rpms but if left start on idle with a some load (AC/Lights etc) system displays a battery symbol and overall voltage drops momentarily below 12 volts.

A new 12v battery has also been replaced.

After a couple of seconds it regains voltage to about 13.6v and stays that way for a few mins. Then this cycle repeats and it keeps showing up progressively , voltage up/down.

At this point my mechanic is out of options as no scanner is picking up any other issues. They have cleaned up all connectors, replaced battery modules/charging modules etc repeatedly but the problem persists.

Any help or suggestion would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks.

Not experienced with the JDM fit or hybrids in general, but if it were a regular ICE car I'd say it sounds like a voltage regulator issue. The regulator is typically attached to or inside of a car's alternator.

Besides that I'd think you need someone to do voltage drop tests.

Hi Usmanato360, has your issue been resolved? I'm facing the exact same issue! My garage is unable to pinpoint the issue.

So today I opened up the hybrid system and had a look. Turned out my garage fitted a Honda CRZ fan. This fan looks the same, had the same mounting plate and connector, but the fan blades are mirrored and it spins the opposite direction.

As a result there's no airflow hence no cooling. Overheating the battery and DC to DC converter. System goes in fail safe and drops the output for a few seconds to let the system cool. On hot days when all systems are on the voltage drops below 12V and the battery warning light comes on.

Hope one day this may help somebody.
