2006 Honda Jazz (from Japan) - 'jolting'

Recently got a 2006 Honda Jazz (1300 cc). Has about 45,000km. It was doing a bit of 'shuttering' on starting from stop as well as a 'jolt/pause' on occasion at mid speed. not sure what kind of transmission fluid was in the car (could have been the non cvt stuff). Anyways, did a few drain/fills with the honda cvt fluid and it seems the shuttering on starting from stop has more/less gone away. However, the periodic 'jolt/pause' has not. I usually happens at mid speed and seems to not happen once the car is fully warmed up. Any thoughts on this one. Is it likely the transmission (sort of feels like it) or could it be something else? Perhaps should do some add'l drain/fills to ensure most of the fluid is the cvt fluid. Thank you for any suggestions that anyone may have.

Could be ignition system: the standard plugs wear quite quickly, and this can stress the coils, and potentially cause interference on the crank position sensor signal. This page on Springbok Photography describes re-routing the wiring to reduce the problem.

It can be hard to tell if a symptom like that is engine or transmission related - I think mine had both when I first got it! Did you try the Xado Revitalizant or the stall test?

This thread discusses similar symptoms, and the problem turned out to be the ignition coils.

I have some experience with this.

For me, the biggest "jolting" I ever had was due to a no-code misfire. I couldn't track down the cylinder either so I had to replace the plugs and coil packs in each cylinder.

As for the CVT... don't get me started. Like you said the shudder is present for me under hard acceleration after a stop, or when it catches into whatever counts as first gear for a CVT when I leave from a stop. Bump on the Xado Revitalizant, the issue was significantly worse last year and I put about half a tube in after a fluid change and it helped a ton. It may be time for another one.
