I live in an area where splash sheild is honestly not optional at all. I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with a decent after market sheild or skid plate? I am attaching one on Ebay similar to mine. It doesn't have the fender "wings" on the side. Thank you for any help.
I can only speak about an aftermarket for a Lexus and I will say while it does the job it's paper thin. I don't recall the price disparity, but it was substantial and worth going cheap.

Yes, it is an essential item in the rust belt.
Thank you, It is a huge price difference. Honda quoted me $300 for just a splash shield and screws/clips not including labor here. I can not afford to shell out that money especially on a part that is known to come off often to the point a lot of people just leave them off. It's something I won't do at all, not just because of rust but the roads are horrid where I live and the city thinks gravel fixes everything. So really just trying to find a cheap after market one, but the last one I got was off Carparts.com and it didn't fit at all, so my roommate had to put the old chopped up one back on. I am disabled and unfortunately can't do the work myself anymore.
I lost the really big one. I tried to put it back on including fashioning some large washers. No go. Didn't want to pay $800+ CDN for a replacement so I went without. Since the car was annually rustproofed, I wasn't concerned with that. By that time, I had a lot of sound deadening done. I experienced zero negative changes to fuel economy.
I kept mine off after the first oil/filter change. If you have it reinstalled it you wouldn't know if there is an oil leak. The absorption pad in the center is good for collecting and holding the weight of rain water too. If you read the manual, that plasic piece is called "under cover". It is not a splash guard as there are enough open spaces to collect rain water.

I bought an aftermarket shield for my 2016 EX-L off Amazon that was marked as OEM quality. The plastic was about half as thick of the original one and you couldn’t hold it up on one side without it drooping on the other. The original splash shield was sturdy in comparison. But once it’s on and fastened, none of it really mattered because its purpose is just for aero and shielding the bottom of the engine compartment from excess salt and dirt. All good.
I purchased a splash shield for that exact price, i got it from a different ebay profile, the shield is much thicker and beefier than the OE one! It does require more bolts than the original one, but theyre all included! Do note that if you do buy it, the one marked hole actually has to be one over to fit right, you’ll have a easier time dropping the bolts through the subframe rather than what the instructions say, theyre the 2 or 3 rear ones!
