AC only cold at high RPM

So I’ve ruled out a bunch of issues: compressor clutch relay has been replaced. All fuses are fine. Compressor clutch engages properly.

Just had the Freon extracted and refilled to spec by a reputable import shop, but the ac only blows cold when the rpm is over 2k.

Any thoughts?

Nothing to do with speed as well. I can be completely stopped, give it revs in neutral, and the moment revs are over 2k I have ac.

Failing compressor. Check pressures with clutch engaged; should be 32-40 low side, 150+ high side depending on temps at the time. Probably has enough "blow by" that it's only counteracted at a higher RPM. If pressure checks out would be another issue.
Some VWs had a hi/lo solenoid. Not sure of your specific model.

My 2010 is an automatic.

Reconsider what we're talking about here...

The clutch being referred to is the A/C compressor clutch.

This definitely isn’t a dirty condenser issue right? Dirty condenser would just be low ac performance at all times, but gets better with speed?

Um, pardon my dumbness, but the condition that you have described sounds normal to me. Our little cars don't throw off a lot of A/C cold air except at highway speeds.

Perhaps I'm missing something. I usually am . . . .

I’ve definitely heard of these fit’s ac’s being pretty weak, but my ac is blowing 0 cold air at all below 2k. That’s what yours does?

To echo Mister Coffee, my 2010 Fit Sport doesn't make much cold air at lower RPM. I wouldn't say "0 cold air" but it's not a lot.

The vast majority of my driving is on the highway at speed, so this doesn't really bother me. If I'm going slow/low RPM in town I rarely bother with the A/C and put the windows down instead.

Well back to the original question then, what could 0 cold air below 2k possibly be? Still possibly a bad compressor? Dirty condenser?

Do your fans turn on when the AC compressor is running/engaged?

yes the fans turn on. My condenser fins are pretty gummed up and not in great shape. Could that stop cold air below 2k rpm though?
