Unhappy Honda Fit GE8 - 2009 - Transmission Not Engaging

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe.

I recently purchased a 2009 Honda Fit (manual transmission) from Copart. The listing didn’t state “run and drive,” but I decided to take a chance on it. Once it arrived, the battery was completely dead. After jump-starting it, the engine started up fine, but here’s the problem: when I put the car into gear, it won’t move at all.

There’s no noise, no grinding, no movement, it just feels like nothing is engaging. The clutch pedal and gear shifter both feel normal, and everything under the hood looks fine. I checked underneath the car for leaks, but found none.

I’m trying to figure out where to start diagnosing this issue. Should I be looking at replacing the clutch kit, or does this sound more like a transmission problem?

Any guidance on how to troubleshoot this or where to begin would be greatly appreciated. I’d love to get this Fit rolling again.

Thanks in advance,
Fitna34

Couple quick ideas/tests.
1) Start with the dumb stuff: Are both axles present? Is the clutch fluid reservoir full?
2) Did you try engaging/disengaging the clutch in all gears?
3) Can you push the car in 1st gear or reverse?
4) Put the car on jack stands and have someone engage/disengage the clutch and shift through the gears while you watch the slave cylinder and shift linkage? Are the clutch fork and shift linkage moving as they should. Can you move either of them farther by hand?
5) Remove the clutch case cover to get a peak at the clutch and flywheel.

Thanks for the insight! I followed all the steps carefully and discovered that my clutch disc was completely worn out.
This is how it came out

Flywheel took impact too.
