Problem with acceleration in first gear

Hey all,

I recently purchased a 2008 manual transmission, and I'm having trouble with first gear. The car tends to lurch forward and then not really pick up any speed even as the engine revs up. I'm not sure what the problem is. I feel like I might not have gotten used to the clutch yet (maybe). I was wondering if any of you MT drivers have had similar problems, and have found a way to get the car to accelerate smoothly from a dead stop. Thanks everyone!

Not to worry eventually you will bond with your GE8. THen driving will be easier than a summer breeze.

If you're new to M/T, it's all about the gas and clutch pedals. If you have M/T experience, then you'll be fine after the "honeymoon" stage. No problem... new car/driver combo stage.

Just FYI, Honda Fits released in the US for model year 2008... are GDs, not GEs.

In Japan, the 2008 model ARE GEs.
