What to look for? Manual shifter stuck in first gear

Manual 2010 Fit . 150,000 miles. Was told clutch was replaced at 100,000

Car was fine when i drove it last. Parked in 1st with e brake on and let it sit for 8 days. Very humid out.

Car started fine but will not shift out of first gear. Just feels like im hitting a wall. There is a little left to right play that is new.

Shifting has never felt sloppy before. Have never felt, heard, or smelled anything weird with the transmission since I've owned it. Clutch feels fine. It depresses and returns like normal. Tried shifting with engine off and on. Tried rocking back and forth. I moved it to a more convenient spot in my parking lot and it runs and drives without stalling. Nothing hanging or loose around the clutch under the dash. Just replaced the oil pan so I've been checking regularly for leaks.

I dont really know shit about transmissions but I do not want to pay the tow and the shop repair bill if its something simple that i can learn from. When the sun comes up Im going to start with the trans fluid, cable linkages, and bushings. Any ideas or suggestions on what else i should check?

  1. I’d use the starter while in gear to see if that will bump it out of 1st gear? A quick turn of the ignition should do it. Just make sure you have 4-5 feet of space in front of your car.
