2009 Fit Sport - No fluid at Rear ABS ports (RR/RL) - Seized Modulator?

Hello all,

I am seeking advice on a stubborn brake bleeding issue with my 2009 Honda Fit Sport (250k miles). I recently replaced the front brakes and successfully bled those lines, but I am getting zero fluid flow to the rear drums.

The Diagnostics so far:
  • Rear Hardware: Both wheel cylinders are verified functional.
  • Lines: Verified clear. When I pull a vacuum at the rear bleeder and "crack" the fitting at the ABS block, the vacuum breaks immediately.
  • The ABS Block Test: I identified the RR and RL ports on the Nissin modulator. With the engine off and the lines loosened at the block, no fluid escapes those two ports when the pedal is pressed.
  • Front Ports: The FL and FR ports bleed perfectly at the block.
  • Attempted Fix: I tried the "vibration method" (tapping the aluminum block while the pedal is under heavy pressure) to try and jar the internal solenoids open, but it remained bone dry.
This car has 17-year-old DOT 3 fluid that has never been flushed. I suspect the rear internal valves are seized due to moisture/sludge.

Questions:
  1. Is there any way to "pulse" or reset these solenoids without a high-end bi-directional scan tool?
  2. Has anyone had success with a "reverse-pressure" blast to clear internal ABS blockages?
  3. If I source a used modulator, are there specific part number variations for the 2009 Sport I should watch out for?
Thanks for any insight!

Even if you force open one of the valves, it will likely be too corroded to seat and seal properly again. ABS units are supposed to fail-safe to vanilla brake operation. No rear brakes is not a "safe" condition in my book - there's something majorly wrong with your modulator.

Looks like 57110-TK6-305 fits the '09-10 base model and Sport.

Thanks for the answer. Who knows how long I have been driving like this? My car is a manual so I always use the break engine as I come to a stop.
So, the part for my 2009 fit sport trim manual is 57110-TK6-316 unless I am mistaken?

I'm seeing conflicting fitment info. The -316 is listed as a VSA modulator (anti-lock plus vehicle dynamics), while the -305 is an ABS modulator (anti-lock only). Really those are doing the same job, but the VSA unit is more sophisticated. Those pages say they both fit the '09-10 Fit Sport. The two modulators are functionally different so that can't be right, unless VSA was an option on the Sport?
I would check a few Honda parts sites (it's under Chassis > ABS modulator or Chassis > VSA modulator), but if you have a VSA button on the dash, you probably need the -316 unit.

Cruising ebay for pics, they're pretty easy to tell apart visually.
The -305 (ABS) looks like they started with a cast aluminum part - the master cylinder connections are raised cylinders on the motor face of the valve body:

While the -316 looks more like they machined down an aluminum block. The MC connections are just holes in the block. Not the best angle here (bottom looking up), but you can see one of the MC ports with a plastic dust cap in it along the top:

Just get whichever modulator you have in the car.
