Anyone get their carpet installed at the dealership?

Purchased my car without factory carpet, which I later ordered. Once I received them, I realized that cutting up the carpet to attach the hooks was going to be more than I bargained for.

Anyone get their carpet+hooks installed at the dealership? How much should I expect to pay, and any personal recommendations for a dealership?

Cutting the carpet is easy, its already 80% cut out, a kind of perforated if you will. Just find the general area where the hook should go and feel around for the slits in the carpet.

one dealership here will charge $50 to install the carpets.

i did the front driver & passenger carpet hooks myself. the directions provided w/ the mats were easy to follow. i didnt install the rear carpet hooks...i just layed the mats down...they dont move around.

Rear Hooks

Rear hooks prevent movement and possible interference with airbag sensor for passenger seat. Rear mat movement is most likely to occur when rear seat passenger is entering or exiting the vehicle.

I did it myself, my dealership was lazy because their idea of installation was place the mats on the floor and put the hooks/hardware that came with it in a bag in the trunk. Nuts to them. Got my Fit, but taking it to another dealership for services.

The front's are way easy. As was mentioned above, everything is already "precut" you just have to make the final slice through the carpet and cut through the insulation.

The back-right one was a bit more of the PITA though. When I was doing the front mount for it, it slipped under the carpet, so be careful when doing that one.

A 5-year old would be able to safely and efficiently install these!

Just finished the fronts. Instructions for the rear don't look too complicated now that I've read it over a few times and see where the pre-cuts in the back are. I'll probably attempt that next weekend.

I'm just happy that I have the front ones in.

Just be careful with the front mount when doing the rear floor mat. It'll want to slide downward because you're doing it on a slanted surface.

I didn't install the hooks - they looked to me like they'd stick up too far and annoy me. I was considering using long strips of velcro instead. Anyone care to comment on that idea? I still have the hooks if I want to put them in.

I'll be moving back to Tampa in the next few months. Hang onto the clips and I'll do it when I get back.

Were you originally from Tampa? We're originally from WA state (Vancouver). Love the weather here SO MUCH BETTER!!!

So you don't like the velcro idea? And you think the hooks are not annoying?

Yeah, across the bay actually, grew up in Largo. My "better half" is from CA and wanted to move back here, much against my wants or wishes. I hate it here and she misses FL (ie. realizes we can't afford CA) so we'll be headed back soon!

I didn't think the fronts were bad at all. You can always cut the carpet up another 1/4 of an inch and it makes it a thousand times easier to put in without any ill effects.

I dunno if Velcro would hold it enough to be effective to be honest with you. I don't know how well the sticky part of the Velcro would hold against the felt carpet either. Worth a shot though!

If we get enough Tampa people (which I haven't seen happen yet), we'll have to start a Tampa Fit Club (TFC - has a nice ring doesn't it?) and meet at the beach, bring the kids, (mine's grown) and have a picnic or something.
