Honda please make standard or offer side and head protection in side collisions in the fit. This is the deciding factor wether I will by one or not.

 

No No . . . . Airbag are so HEAVY !!! Honda = weight is to power ratio :P

 

Airbags in non US cars are SRS (secondary restraint system). The pyrotechnic pretensioners on the seatbelts are a higher priority. No belts = no brains.

 

Having rolled a previous CRV I can tell you side airbags @#$%ing WORK!

 

What do you mean? The USDM Honda Fit has 8 airbags. 2 fronts, 2 sides, and 4 side curtain airbags (1 for each window). Since you're from Chicago, the Fit that you see on the road would have the 8 airbags, standard.

 

6 airbags actually.. the side curtian ones are one piece actually...with helium inflators..go figure.

I can see it now, WHAM you get hit..stumble out of the car, the other driver asks if your ok! you say I'm fine in a HIGH PITCHED SQWEEKY VOICE from the helium...cop takes you way since he thinks ur stoned

 

3 weeks ago I had someone run a red light and hit me in the rear of my Fit; which in turn spun me into the rear of their car. I took a cut to my head and abrasions to my face from the airbag but walked away because ot the side curtain airbag. Had it not been for the bag my head would surely have gone through the drivers window. The automobile sustained $11.000. damge and was totaled but I am o.k. due to curtain airbags!

 

^ Wow man, glad you're okay!!! Great to hear that your Fit was able to give its life to save yours.

And yeah, to answer the OP's question, the Base and Sport Fits in the US come STANDARD with front, side curtain and side torso airbags. All the info is on the US Fit website (http://fit.honda.com).

i crashed my fit a couple days ago and tha airbags surprised me i got trashed thats my only comment ...My boo should be out tha hospital in a couple days(bodyshop)
