Service @ Power Honda Costa Mesa

Let me open by saying that things usually go wrong for me when I need things done unexpectedly or on short notice.

I brought my car in for the recall, oil change, and brake cleaning/adjustments.
Everything went well till it came time to pick it up.

At around 4:15pm today, I get a call from my service consultant (what a title...) telling me they finished the work and were going to take it in for a wash. I would be able to pick up my car in 30 minutes. He told me he'd still be in the office till 6pm.

I arrived at 5:30pm but he was already gone. Another service consultant advised me to go to the cashier to pay for my car and they would bring it up for me. The cashier pulled up my paperwork and radioed someone to bring my car up. I then paid for my service (credit card receipt timed 17:37).

5:45...no sign of my car. I go back in to ask them what's taking so long. They look at my paper work again and radio again (no reply).

5:50...still no sign of my car. I now see 4 workers going around looking for keys. I was asked to show them my paper work again. I asked them what's going on. They basically told me they cannot find my keys and are tracking down my service guy and the technician that worked on my car. I asked to speak with a manager and the woman said ok and walked away.

6:00...there's now about 6 different people trying to find my keys. One person set off my alarm when they try to see if my doors were unlocked. I ask to speak with the manager and this time they paged him. Of course he never shows up.

6:05...the manager comes out (does not greet/acknowledge me) and tries to find my keys along with the other workers.

6:10...i speak with two other service consultants who were still working, and they play the nice guy routine, claiming if they had more power etc. they'd have my key already...w/e.

6:15...my car rolls up (it's been 45 MINUTES since they paged for my car), i see the service manager running back inside to his office, then back out of his office away from me. Never does he look in my direction. He just runs off. I was later told he was in the middle of a meeting.
My friend (who has waited with me for 45 minutes) and I had a dinner party to go to, so unfortunately I couldn't wait around for the manager to get out of his BS meeting.
I demanded that I at least have the manager's business card and the card of another service consultant who was present. I also asked where they had found my keys and was told they were locked in a room with the technicians tool box - only the service manager had a key to that room.
The one service consultant I was talking to said they'll try to make it right next time i come in. *wtf are you kidding me? *

I go out to my car find out that it was NOT washed (as my service guy told me they'd do), probably because they could never find the keys.

I'm pretty disgruntled. What should I do?

I did, but the problem was, they were basically closing and so most people left and the manager was in a meeting. i would have sat around and waited if i had the time.

call corporate. this is only my OPINION, but the manager was cruising around in your car. I'd be livid if this happened to me. I wouldn't leave until the GM came downstairs. yes, I have had to do that before at my LHD, and i left satisfied.

Thanks. I was definitely not happy about leaving, but I had to. Should i attempt to call my service guy and the manager tomorrow or just jump straight to corporate? I'm not even sure what they'd do for me after making such an effort.

Oh i made sure to check to see that things were done. I can't tell if the recall switch was done because it looks and feels the same as the old one. I'm not going to take it apart to check if the "cover" was placed on it, but the paper work shows the all work has been done and can feel that the brakes were adjusted.

thanks

IF you complain to the dealer what could they do for you? Free oil change or some type of free/discount service? Would you want to go back to them? I say go straight to corporate and never go back to that dealer.
Thanks for posting so now I know not to go there for my recall.

thanks ken. I do want my damn car wash tho.
yeah don't go there for...anything.
Also it seems their Power Honda Performance (PHP) department has gone out of business.

I should add there were two other women waiting for their cars for over 10 minutes. Lucky for them, their service guys were still working and they managed to find their keys quickly. It probably also helped that their techs didn't lock the keys in their tool box.

In all honesty, I would give the Service Manager one last chance JUST to explain himself. I would still make a call to corporate after talking with the service manager anyways.

Its always disheartening to hear stories like this.

When I had my xB I always took it to Longo (even when it was modified) and never had problems.

With the fit I always take it to Riverside Metro Honda (where I bought the car) & the service guys and techs are super nice guys always chit chat with me. I have never had any problems...well one time they finished with my car and didnt let me know it was done so I was sitting there for an extra hr.

I would call or stop by the store and talk to the GM. It doesn't make sense that your keys would be in a technicians tool box??

Thanks for the input guys. I got a voicemessage from my service consultant this morning. He explained to me that it was his fault for not telling his technician that I wanted my car back. The technician had wanted to test the car the next morning with my service consultant to verify that the adjustments and my complaints could not be replicated.
He offered me a free oil change next time I go in.

I haven't called back yet.

Well, I went to get my switch check out today. How long it take to get it repair is really depend on if you need to replace the wholes switch or a gasket part. My guy said the switch is fine but their need to change the gasket. I was in at 12:50PM and out at 2:10PM with car wash too.
