Smoked Tail LIghts State Laws ..

A buddy of mine just called me and said he got a ticket for tinted tail lights and kind of got me worried about mine.. my smoked tail lights are probably tinted at around 20% visibility.

Anybody know of the laws in Minnesota or how to figure them out..?

post up pics. The biggest thing is the light needs to be clearly visible when liight up at day and night. I dont know laws for tail lights but windows can only be 50%

correct me if i'm wrong but in illinois, any red tail/ brake light/assembly should be visible within 500 ft... so i guess if i have a third red brake light assembly i can black my main tails out... I think.

Check with your local laws

i drove around with 50% tinted for the longest on other cars, from my understanding its depending on the cop... they can pull you over for having anything over your taillights

on campus where iam at, i had many friends that did 100% tinted taillights, and all of them got pulled over.. but mine was prety dark at 50% but i never got pulled over once for 5 years

I'm a police dispatcher in a smaller, more upscale town. And I can tell you that these guys use tinted windows and tail lights as an excuse to pull people over all the time. It doesn't matter how tinted they are, if they are obviously tinted then the officer has the right to stop you to check the tint level. You may not get cited for the tint, but if you weren't wearing your seatbelt, drinking, smoking the green stuff, etc, that's now all fair game once you're pulled over.
