Repair a worn hole in floor covering?

I have a 2007 Fit Sport and the other day I noticed a hole in the felt lining along the side of the center console on the driver's side. Obviously due to repeated scuffing & general wear & tear from the heel of the right foot.

The rubber carpets have done really well in this New England weather, but I guess I never expected the felt lining to get worn through like this.

Anybody have any advice for a (relatively) simple fix? ...that is, short of tearing out the seats and replacing the entire floor covering?

Piece o' felt and a glue gun? Hmm...
