What's in the center hump?

I've been wondering since trying to install the floor mats, what's in that center hump on the floor of the back seats? I pressed on it and it's kinda soft. My sister was standing on it when playing around with the magic seats, hope it didn't damage anything.

Didn't realize it was there until after I got the Fit, thought it was flat like in a Civic. Anyone have any ideas?

Really? I hope there's something more than just the cheap carpet protecting it. Felt kinda soft when I poked at it.

Yeah^^^

It also serves to rigidize the body. I was a bit bummed when I noticed it before I bought the car...
I think that was and is a Great idea on the Civics...
But maybe its also keep a clean undertray for a stable and consistent linear low CG

Imagine how much more room there would be if it was flat in there...I could keep secrets in there then too! haahaaa
It kinda feels like Honda pulled a fast one...."hey you can have all that versatility....but PSYCH!...FOOLED YOU"

In all actuallity, even though it was nice in my Civic things slid around more back down there... now they just slide around every where else...

my yeah^^^ was for Billmus86's post....dont know how to edit the "subject" part

The center hump is probably a hold over from the AWD version they sell in Japan.

If you looks closely you can see the raised area in this picture. This is older vid from 2003 with Mr.Spoon explaining about the FIT's chassis

I belive the area isnt for exhaust. I belive the exhuast runs on the side. Maybe for the fuel filler line.
