alarm. Any comments about alarms for fits
I am thinking about protecting my car from theft now I own a base modle fit... Any comments are appreciated. There is a product called the wrap that I like and dont like. It seems better then a club. I am not a thief but I could manage a club with out too much trouble. beepers are a nice feture for alarms. It seems on star would be a good way to track a car with GPS.
For those looking toprotect their new Fit, many have suggested buying the Club, which locks the steering wheel when you install it as you lock up your car. The Club is totally useless if anyone really wants to steal your new Fit. Yes, it would take a week to cut through the Club with a good hacksaw. However, that same hacksaw blade will cut through the Fit steering wheel in about six seconds. Then the thief opens the door and throws out the Club. Then the thief punches out your ignition key on the steering column and you can kiss your Fit goodbye. If you parkwhere the Fit can be stolen the only viable protection is LoJack. With LoJack the policein most cities can track your car. Recovery rates on stolen cars with LoJack are very high. As for the Club - In NY City they have dumpsters full of locked Clubs.
I think it will really come down to how much you want to spend on security. Sure the club and whatnot is fine, that would be at least something, but cutting through the steering wheel is easy for a thief.
I went and got an aftermarket alarm that has door locks, panic, etc. for $200. Enough for me. I could've got the option to know when it goes off, but what am I, a 5'2" person gonna do to a thief? My goal is to deter, not confront. The lojack/onstar options seem very cool, but not so cheap. So really I think it comes down to what you want to spend.

At one time our Gov't. run insurance was charging around $240 to install immobilizers on our cars. Now they are giving them away for free.
Because Honda's have factory immob. they are rated highly against theft on the top 150 list, only one Honda Prelude appears.
My salesman answered when i asked about the club, "Most Honda owners don't bother with it."
