Dealer Markup?

Went out to look at Fits this weekend and noticed all Southern California Dealerships are adding 1-2K mark-up! Is this necessary? Any dealers willing to sell without mark-up?

What did the call the markup? Market Value Adjustment? I saw that after I bought my Fit and the Honda dealership on a 2012 Civic Si. They adjusted it $2500 above MSRP which made it nearly $26k. They'll do that when the supply is low and/or if they're selling it quickly. It sucks because you see a car on the Honda website and the msrp says one thing and then you go to the dealership and they're charging $2500 more!

If a person pays above MSRP chances are that person will be upside down during the whole duration of the loan. In th end the dealer is hurt since that person will not be able to trade-in the car in the future.
Best to stay away or deal with the fleet manager. It is very wrong to pay over MSRP>
