09 sport shifting HARD, paddles not working

I tried to search this before asking, but couldn't find what i was looking for exactly.

My wife's 09 fit (automatic, 63k miles) started having a problem the other day, where at 17-20mph (2nd-3rd?) it would shift HARD, like it was getting dumped into gear. Almost like letting off of a clutch suddenly. It was happening again from 4th to 5th on the highway. While this is happening, sport mode will not work. It does not do this every time the car runs. Some people have suggested turning the car off and then restarting it. I have heard it's possible that a solenoid is the issue, but some people claim that flushing the atf clears the problem up. If it were just the atf needing flushed, why wouldn't it be consistent throughout each run of the car? Any help would be appreciated, I am not overly knowledgeable about cars.

What I would do if it were me.

Check fluid level of transmission. Ensure the car is on a flat surface.
Taken from another FF post:
"for the fit its the following (from the 09 service manual):

start engine from cold (overnight). then wait until the fan kicks in twice (it'll take a bit and make sure your ac is off and the fan is set to without defrost.

once it kicks in twice, turn it off and wait 60 seconds after shutting off the engine, but not more than 90 seconds seconds to check the level. Any longer and the level may seem higher than it actually it.
"

After that checks out, I would unplug the (-) battery lead and let it sit 5-10mins then hook it back up in hopes it resets everything.

Before changing the solenoid you should do the tests for that code.

Solenoid codes may be a solenoid but also may be a wiring issue that controls the solenoid.
