Radiator Cap Type

Can someone please tell me what type of radiator cap the first gen has?

A, B, D, F ?

And are they interchangeable? I was thinking on upgrading my cap but I don't know which one is a safe replacement.

How (or why) would you upgrade a radiator cap?

You DON'T want more pressure.

I've never had an OEM Honda cap fail, and we usually keep our Hondas a lot longer than 10 years.

Well, it was really for looks more than anything. I like the the way the Skunk2 black rad cap looks in the red and black but don't think it comes in Type D. But after reading around a bit more I guess it might actually be detrimental unless I was tracking the car or live in a really hot climate.

@Hootie: Is your car your DD or do you race it?

Both, daily driven autocross car In a VERY HUMID and hot climate (Houston, Texas roughly).

Some caps may be simply visual, others like the Spoon are rated at 1.35 Bar (compared to stocks 1 to 1.15 Bar).

All of the aftermarket caps I've seen are all rated at 1.3kg.

If I upgraded my cap will it hurt my car as a daily driver? I read that the water pump may work harder because of the higher pressure in the system.
