Why are people switching to R18 throttle body?

Why are people switching to R18 throttle body?

Is there a gain with an intake? I haven't noticed any throttle body spacers on the L15 engines either. Does it not do much gains line most Honda engines like B16, B18, K20, K24. There is def enough room with the short ram intake. I'll buy a used R18 intake manifold and spacer soon. If it makes gains reducing hot air into the engine.

Bumping for interest. Is the R18 TB/IM directly compatible with our engine? Does the CR-Z have the same TB/IM as we do?

I don't think the R18 IM would work. The ports on the R18 are ovular, where on the L15 they are round. I know the TB will bolt on though. Might be worth 2-3 WHP, but if you can get one cheap enough, why not?

So what throttle body are people swing? I could have sworn it was R18.

Yes, people use the R18s. However, they don't seem to be the best bang for the buck. Read this.

If you could pull one off a junked Civic, why not? I know guys in the GM crowd that ran larger TBs and showed small gains. In a car like the Fit where you're not getting much of anything from any mod, every bit counts, especially in an NA application. I could ship a TB off to Max Bore for $100 USD, or I could get a TB from the pick n Pull for $35 CAD. For far less money, I can get 50% of the result.

I picked up an r18 throttle body from the junker for pennies and thought I'd give this a try. I wasn't a fan of cutting up my original plenum so I designed and printed my own adapter from NylonX. This should give a more seamless flow from the r18 throttle body into the plenum inlet than the original solution.

I've had a couple people message and ask. Here is the link to the adapter plate. I use this in conjunction with the Siri Moto R18 Throttle Body Spacer. Works a treat.

Neato. So are you running this with a turbo or just enjoying more flow NA?

hello! so I've got a Crz with a sprintex kit and I have everything I need to do the r18 swap but the problem I am running into is the connector on top of the r18 tb is much to far away from the stock plug. what did you do to instal it? and were you throwing any codes afterwards? thanks for any help!!
