Aftermarket air filter

Bought a engine air filter on amazon. It was highly rated and I didn't want to either 1) wait 12 weeks for a Honda one from Amazon or 2) pay 2x as much from Bernardiparts.com .

Well, that aftermarket filter fit great, but had way too many folds in the filter material. And it makes a difference! I could tell the car had a little less power, and shifted slightly harshly too! There was a plus side: It was a little quieter.

So, lesson: Buy the Honda filter, not aftermarket. Maybe a K&N would give even more power, who knows? But for sure that aftermarket one was not what the Honda doctor ordered.

I got the k&n for $40 and a recharge oil bottle for $10. Pretty much the life of the car. Didnt feel a difference in power, still slow. Mpg is still the same too.

I ordered parts from hondapartsnow and got the parts in a few days. It isn't feasible if you're buying a few parts that are cheap because you'll get killed by shipping but if you're buying a substantial dollar amount of parts ($100) then I've found shipping time to be a non issue.

more fold is better it gives more surface area to flow air, not sure why yours is feeling down on power, if the old one was really dirty you might try clearing the ECU and letting it re-learn the sensors..
