Unhappy Door Locks Won't Work Anymore.... yes, I checked fuses

i replaced the rear speakers today on my 07 GD3 sport and after everything was completed perfectly i went to lock the doors and no locking by key fob or by drivers door panel.

first thing i did was check the fuse panel and #28 was blown (door locks) and then i went down to the auto store grabbed a few 20A mini fuses to replace it. boom, blew again as soon as i hit the lock or unlock button. any ideas here? i am hella frustrated

My guess is you accidentally pinched/shorted a wire in the door, retrace your steps and you should find the fault.

If I had to guess where the short might be - and there's gotta be a short somewhere, as the locks were working fine before you replaced the speakers - I'd guess the plug-in white plastic electrical connector in the arm rest.

Pry up the arm rest cover, unclip the arm rest connector, and inspect to make sure everything is as it should be - no bent pins in the connector, frayed or exposed wires going into the connector, etc. If you don't find anything on one side, inspect the other.

I can't think of anywhere else you might have disrupted the flow the electricity to the door locks just by replacing speakers.

Hey thanks for the point in the right direction! I guess I'll be pulling off the door panels again this weekend for the 5th time 😂
