Tailgate won’t open

2016 Fit, rear tailgate won’t open/operate even if I press the unlock button on the fog. I hear no mechanism when I press the button. I’m thinking is a fuse? But I would like to know if anyone else has dealt with this before. Thank you

I tried locating the fuse for the tailgate but unable to find it, or understand the abbreviations. The fuse box information is on pg. 425, and emergency on how to open the tailgate from the inside is on page 429 of the owner's manual. good luck.

Opening it manual did the trick. After releasing the mechanism everything went back to normal. Thank you 🙏🏽

Maybe a lack of lubrication issue - something just sticking.

Yea I thought the same thing but when I opened the tailgate manually I saw that it had lub already and plenty of it. I’m begining to think that my wife probably closed it but didn’t put enough force to lock it. Maybe got stuck in between. As soon as I opened it and closed it everything else went back to normal.

Was it frozen? Did you wash the car and get water in it?

After 5 months the problem came back! 😫 this time for good I think. I opened it manually and failed to reset. Nothing works. I will try and find the fuse and go from there.
