It could be done, but why? That is not a popular size. 205/50-16 is MUCH more common and is closer to the correct diameter for your car.

185/60-15 - 23.7 diameter
205/50-16 - 24.1 diameter
215/45-16 - 23.6 diameter
185/55-16 - 24.0 diameter

Personally, I'd go with the popular size with lots of choices since all are pretty close.

 

 

 

How much does the Eibach kit lower the car? If its only an inch you should be ok. .4" is about 10mm which would be like running a 40 something offset wheel.

Are they all season or summer/winter tires? I go as wide as possible for my summer tire.

 

Wheel offset is definitely a large part of this equation. Seems that +40 on the GD rubs just a tad in the rear, but is OK with GE Fits. GK's seem to get away with +35 even.

Run a 195/50/16. You can get a nice tire in that size, it is close to OEM diameter & it isn't needlessly wide like a 215 would be.

By the way, offset is really important, so do your research and check what is doable.

 

I know that. I assumed he was referring to .4 wider not taller and I know it does not change the offset.

Offset without rim width means nothing. Offset is the amount the the wheel is offset from the centerline of the rim. The same offset on a 6" wide wheel and 7' wide wheel will change the relationship from the wheel to the strut. As one goes wider rim width at some point the offset needs to be reduced to keep from the wheel touching the strut.

 

 

In context he's talking about the diameter of 205/45 vs 205/50.
