East Bay Garage Advice Anyone (ASAP) ?
Hey guys- Wondering if anyone can recommend a Fit-Friendly garage in the east bay..one thats reasonably priced ofcourse. Been taking my Fit to the dealer up until now..tomorrow i will take it to get the brakes inspected, its making a scraping sound out of the front right, car's only got 52K original on it..when i spoke to them on the phone they insisted that they dont do just the pads, i would needs the rotors serviced as well, so all in all about 5 bills out the door. I asked them if they could just do the pads but they said its their policy to throw in the rotors job, SO, i'm thinking i may need to find a garage to do just the pads. I'm told the scraping sound is something built into the pads to alert one of the impending replacement of the pads..that may explain why this noise comes and goes..sometimes there is no scraping for 2-3 days. The scraping started approximately a week ago..anyway, any heads up is cheerfully accepted.

Most brake pads will have a "wear indicator" which will cause that scraping sound that you're hearing when the brake pads are nearing their time for replacement. Front rotors and brake pads should run you around $100-150, if you're buying decent stuff. Do you have any friends who are somewhat competent with working on cars? Brakes are pretty straightforward if you pay attention to some DIY videos and it would save you quite a bit of money.
