Can I get an AMEN for REAL JDM???
that stated. When a company makes a replica of the name brand sure it allows the mass consumers to purchase these items for a relatively inexpensive price. But it hurts the Original Company's. The time and money spent on R&D goes to waste and causes the OC to charge more and then go out of business because they are spending more than they are bringing in.
If they produce only a small number of an item, and if we don't support the OC, then they will go out of business; but the sheer number of products over-compensates the cost of R&D. Even if these "poor OCs" lowered the retail price of their products to half of what they are right now, they will not go out of business, because they still make profits [albeit, a smaller one... would they do it? NO!] and they will increase the number of customers buying their brands.
If these OCs make the same items as smaller companies that provide an affordable alternative, then why should we buy these items at such a high premium? Why don't the OCs think of its consumers? Why should we think for the OCs when all they think about are Profits and Monopoly?
These big companies preach about their R&D going to waste and the passion they put into their products, how they can go out of business if people won't open up their wallets and let the companies charge them anally. Please! They are very passionate indeed, passionate to make as much profits as possible. When a small company starts making the same items as the big ones, what happens?
Anyone thinks SPOON, MUGEN, BRIDE, RECARO, will go out of business if we don't buy their product? Considering that these company has their name on everything automotive and are all expanding their empires, I don't think so.
had my JDM tails for over a year now, and they are as good as the day i installed them.
I like true JDM stuff....but some of the prices seem a bit outragous for me personally. Yes, I had the fake mugen ones but they worked. I would LOVE to get the OE Slim visors but cant see myself spending 150+ for them.
For me, it's give and take. Sometimes i have to take my time to get certain things......like the gales i want again
The fake ones I had before my OEM ones were fine as well. But I have seen a few of the Fakies with Failing LEDs. Some knock off stuff is quality. Some is not. Just depends on what you get. Seibon makes alot of Knock off stuff, but MOST of their stuff is made really well. I would get a seibon duckbill before I get a spoon one anyday.
as far as wheels go. I'm going to get real and knock off.
real SW388s wrapped in some sticky rubber for AutoX and shows/meets/photos, and some cheapo rota slips for daily driving with some "just-okay" tires. that way if i curb them or they get stolen, i'm not going to cry about it.

Im not hating on people who buy fakes/replicas/knock-offs...

Support the name brands because they are the ones who are spending the time to create the products we are all longing for. Not because you want to show-off and flaunt money.

thats exactly what i mean... they are not built to last, you maybe have them for a good 6 months to a year, and thru the normal sun and cycle of washes the shit starts to crack, water gets in them and they just start looking like crap. I agree with the OEM r&d money didnt go into the product for nothing.
rotas
i agree with buying rota's especially for daily drivers. Rota's are cheap.. nobody will jack them, if you eff one up then.. its 75 bucks for a NEW ONE, ahahah thats the only good thing about a good knock off rim.
i dooo want some gram lights tho... soon they will be mine!

N1's are cheaply made aftermarket replacements. The depot lights are as close as you can get to OEM without being OEM. N1s are cheaper, but the quality also sucks.
highly recommended
But as far as the duckbill goes, the Spoon one only goes for about $80 more (at some FF vendors) and I think they throw in the shorter rear wiper blade, don't they?
Seibon spoiler can be had for under $200.... I dont like Spoons CF stuff. The weave tends to be crappy.
Oh wow, I didn't know you could get the Seibon so cheap. I haven't seen any Spoon CF stuff up close. I had a Seibon CF Type-R style wing on my EP3 Civic. It was really nice, it did have a small chip on one of the corners though from shipping probably. But I can't hold Seibon entirely responsible for that.
I know this is a risky topic for somebody to start a thread about, but i like discussion and your occasional confrontation. It's good to have people speak out and use there rights to stand up for something, and i encourage that. I don't particularly hate on people with fake products, i just wouldnt buy to many of them myself. Definitely, if it works for you then thats what your going to think is nice for your setup. I just don't like when other companies make really cheap ass shit and market it as JDM, only to have it fail within a short period of time. I know someone that is Mr. Ebay special... and you can most definitely tell that it is.
Companies like Seibon, and password JDM aren't even Japanese made, but THEY are of great quality. I give props to companies like that.

+ rep for that.
That is true.

And yes, spoon encloses the rear wiper. I just got mine from a member here.
Wheels: are a different story. I would LOVE to rock some gales, ssr superfins, schumacher's, gpo, racing harts.....but my budget doesn't allow it at this moment. But if I can be happy with some Rotas for the time being...it shouldn't be looked at negatively. I am budgeting with what I have and still want a particular look for my car.
Accessories: That is kinda where i am on the fence. I would LOVE to have OE slim visors...but the FF classified price of $150 is do-able, but somewhat unrealistic for me. Center console has to be the JDM...$300 is completely worth it.
It's just certain things in my opinion that should be JDM/OE. Some people just get over rediculous with installing all of this JDM stuff yet they dont even have a true JDM car. I think JDMChris has the closest thing to it. Time and money spent and it looks great. I did the similar things to my 96 Integra....but that is where i learned it's almost not worth it long term. You never get out of it what you put into it, except self gratification which is priceless.
my JDM stuff is actually rarely seen. i have JDM window and door coverings for a home, traditional dishes, geisha dolls.....but my JDM is different
