Fogs died

Hey guys,

The crack in right fog light apparently got so bad that water got in them. Now none of the fogs turn on. Does this mean the fuse is blown? or just get new fog light housing and bulbs and i'll be good?

And also do you guys have recommendations on where to get new fog housings? thanks for the help guys.

kevin.

PS: I'm broke so somewhere not super expensive.

There is a possibility that you've blew a fuse that you can try checking that. If you have a digital voltimeter, check the resistance in your bulbs. Hopefully its the bulb itself that has an open circuit, the number on the meter will fluctuate if it is (it'll stay a constant 0 if they aren't blown).

If the bulbs check out, you'll need a wiring diagram to locate the proper test points to check the resistance in the connectors and harness for the fog lights.

As for the fog housing, if I recall correctly the housing is the same as the one for the RSX (towlie had RSX ion fogs IIRC) and the 8th Gen Civic. Be sure to double check though and if they are the correct ones just need to swap the plastic cover with your Fit's. You should be able to find them on ebay or another forum.

if yours was like mine, i think from being lowered my bumper hit driveways too much and acutally sheared through the bulb connector on one side. i still have the ohter side if you are in need of a replacement bulb.

i took all of the glass off the housings and used lexan for the lenses (impact resistant plexiglass) $8 from lowes. I used black RTV adhesive to seal the lexan to the housing

I did this yesterday, works nice

I'm definitely not taking the fogs out again, I'm sick of doing that, I had three sets of housing in there and glass cracked on all of them. I just traced the housing onto the protective film then used a dremel with a reinforced cut off wheel to cut and shape the lexan. I put a thick bead of adhesive RTV around the edge, removed the one side of protective film and pressed the lexan to the housing. I secured the lexan with tape and let the RTV cure for 24 hours. Then I took the tape and the film off and put another bead of RTV around the edge to ensure a seal. Cure for 24 hours then install.

thanks, it kind of irritates me that honda uses glass on the fogs yet the actual headlights are made out of plastic

and yep, let it dry well before installing
