Why?

Why do the US sport automatics still come with the paddle shifters and the Canadian ones dont?

I tried finding the answer online but couldnt seem to find it.

It's definetly weird that they decided to get rid of the paddles. Im sure it has nothing to do with the little price drop on the 2009 MT and AT sport trims in Canada.

I have an 07 sport with the paddles but rarely use them. I try to drive my car for the gas mileage. When i used the paddles the mileage goes out the window. I tended to hold the gears longer defeating my goal.

I heard they can drop your MPG.

I found out (somewhere on this site) that they removed them so that they could save on the weight and possibly qualify for govt fuel rebates...however, no rebates for the '09s. Maybe they'll return for the '10 Fits.

Probably didn't want to remind the folks that Formula 1 (which imo is what made paddle shifters known to the public) no longer has races in the US.

They didn't have a race in the US last year either but we did have a canadian GP which we have lost this year but I am sure this has nothing to do with the new Fit.

Probably cost savings and complaints of worse fuel economy from GD3 owners are what made them not bring this out for our market?

Yup, cost savings... I was pretty disappointed to hear this too, especially since I didn't find out until a month or two after I ordered my '09 Fit Sport A/T in July.
