Wheels

These 949Racing 6ULs are the lightest 17x9 rim I could find at 15.5 lbs With a 1.25" spacer, hopefully they'll clear the brakes and coilovers. The Advan A052s in 255/40/R17 are 23 lbs, so I'm only about 1.5 lbs lighter per corner than stock but the aluminum calipers and hats should help a little, again likely offset by the secondary reservoirs on the new coilovers...

Nice progress! I think going turbo was a good call although I'm sure competition will be stiff in Unlimited, and I'm sure I don't have to tell you but the turbo you selected is the best around. Still the important thing is to have fun and enjoy it.

Looking forward to more updates!

It's a grind. Literally we have been grinding off all the interior paint to prep for stitch welding the chassis. Next I will remove all the piping for the fuel tank and the fuel tank itself. Then I'm going to drop the motor and trans, remove seam sealer from engine bay, remove front sub frame, remove rear sub frame, and roll the car on its side. From there, we'll remove all the seam sealer on the bottom side of the chassis. Then finally, stitch weld the chassis. Then build the roll cage. All the while we're preparing for the side turbo mount, pedal box, aero package, rear radiator mount, potential cantilever rear suspension, rear firewall, mega rear diffuser... good times

What's up y'all? Long time no updates... It took about a year to do all the seam sealer removal and getting the car down to bare bones, working on nights and weekends in the shop. Anyways, we have the main hoop tig welded, and are working down bars right now. Cage should be complete soon. We are using a product called Steel-It to protect the metal. Whole underside and interior will be painted in a two-part epoxy coating that can be welded through since it has 304 stainless in the paint (for future repairs etc). We have started building the turbo piping but we are waiting for the transmission to come back from Team RIP Engineering in Kalamazoo Mich... They are going through the whole box and will maximize the torque handling capability of the stock trans. It still has the mFactory LSD in there. I have an electronics guy that is building a complete electrical racing harness for the engine. We are using a cannon plug in the firewall to enable us to drop the engine quickly Additionally I am offboarding some of the sensors to a Rife sensor block that will prevent unwanted vibrations from compromising the sensors. To help manage the boost, I got a Turbonetics butterfly valve waste gate that will support 50 psi very accurately. I also got their controller to manage the system. My builder designed and built a front mount intercooler that goes where the radiator used to. We are mounting the radiator just in front of the fuel cell. Fuel cell will sit in the forward most portion of what used to be the spare tire well. Radiator will receive air through rear door ducting that we still have to make. I have an electric water pump for the rear that flows plenty. To convert from the NA build, I went with the Brian Crower rods for the L15B1 from the Civic. They were supposed to be the same just shorter (to get to 10.4:1 static compression ratio). Turns out the fit has a smaller wrist pin (go figure) so I had to have them machined to work. I have them back and the engine is going back together as we speak. My thrust bearings showed significant wear after only 100 break in miles, and I heard that is due to the Clutchmasters Stage 4 clutch I have on there We're going to put a pressure relief valve in there or use the computer so it won't start with the clutch in... Still a lot of work to do. Hoping to have her running by 1 June, we'll see...

The rotisserie. Very helpful tool!

Stitch welding sample

Radium 10 gallon fuel cell, has the foam inside to not catch fire if punctured, etc.

Intercooler will sit here and entry and exit on reverse side...

Turbnetics wastegate and start of hot side turbo pipe.

It's all angles lol

World's lightest GK5. Probably has 50lb of rotisserie on either side still when I weighed this, could be as low as 625 lbs with just the body and nothing else.

Time to freshen up those geometry skillz, CPCTC!!

Radiator will go here! Not this radiator but...

Getting there. This main hoop is all tig welded now.

Christmas in February!

Fitment testing the new momo. We got a Sparco seat bracket off scratch and dent sale for $15

This has two purge pumps and one main pump to ensure we never run out of fuel.

Building out the landing spots for the cage.

Goal for the car is 600hp, 2200 lbs with driver in the car. Going to set some track records!!!

This build is a stark contrast to what I saw when we met each other at WSIR for Fit & Friends 2. Exciting stuff, d'Art!

Crazy Build

I just wanted a N/A monster. I came for a roll cage I'm getting an unlimited time attack car. Happenstance, this is a drift shop I'm working with and the shop needed a bigger project to keep it running so, here we are, I've dared to dream... also, I wanted to go big on the aero and you need horsepower to overcome drag. We will see...
