The Beginning
As with all things in life it started off with a single elegant thought:
“WTFOMGBBQ!! Gas costs how much!??!!!”
And thus begins my tale of acquiring my super rad 2007 NightHawk Black Pearl Automatic FiT Sport.
Back in my yuppie years, oh so long ago, I drove a typical yuppie car: a German gas guzzling luxury sports sedan (GGGLSS). Being the single guy that I was, let me tell you, nothing beats having a GGGLSS car to impress the ladies with!
Fast forward a few years, add a hot wife, 2 cute sons, rising gas prices, rising life costs, the fact that I was commuting to work and home in a GGGLSS.. alone (*%$^GAS!!@#%), and you can see that my needs started to change. Thus I began my quest, my quest to find a car that would not only have good MPG, it had to have style, it had to have utility, it had to equal the cost of my current car, it had to have substance, and *maybe.not.really.ok.she.would.kill.me.if.I.didn't .listen.to.her* it had to be a car my wife approved of.
Where was I to find such a car that would, dare I say, Fit all of my required needs? (dum dum dummm!)
The fact that I was looking for a zero-sum trade negated any of the typical hybrids that had good MPG. That and the fact that most hybrids (I'm looking at you Prius) looked butt nasty ugly. Thus I began utilizing that special invention dubbed "The Internet" for car's that would match my GGGLSS's current value. I stumbled onto the sub-compact category of cars and never looked back. After heavily researching all the available sub-compacts, I finally settled on my two final choices:
The Toyota Yaris vs The Honda Fit. Round 1 Fight!
The Middle
When I first saw photos of the Yaris hatchback, my very first thought was "Eh.." MPG was good, design was alright, interior was standard, it had the Toyota name, so far so good right? But something just wasn't vibbing, what was this feeling? Oh yes that's right.. it felt like having a super ugly girl check you out, you're flattered that she's into you but you just gotta say NO!
Then I saw it, the car that would be mine, the car that I was destined to own *cue melodic epic music* The! Honda! Fit!
Sleek, shiny, cute, good MPG, useful, dare I say..sexy?, the Fit had it all. It was like a super cute girl who had yet to realize how superficial guys are and didn't know the awesome powers that she could wield. I had to get it, I vowed to own one, come rain or shine, this tiny car with it's gigantic trunk space, excellent MPG, and Honda backed quality, oh yes it WOULD be mine!!
Alas I was not the only one in pursuit of this automobile. It seemed like a ton of other people had used "The Internet" and discovered the awesomeness that was the Fit. Finding one in stock was next to impossible. Yet as luck, or persistence, would have it I stumbled across this thing called "a forum" and I soon happened upon a special "forum" which was called "FITFREAK"! *shameless plug* From here I was able to find and interact with individuals such as myself, people who knew the value that this car offered. *much to the dismay of my wife who thought I was the only person in the whole world who was Fit crazy* I was then able to get valuable information on good dealers and prices for buying a Fit. With this new knowledge in hand I went in for my test drive at the local Huntington Beach California Honda Dealer.
Ahhh the Fit, it drove like a dream, fast and responsive, elegant and smooth, could this car do no wrong? I was riding on cloud 9. But then disaster struck in the name of greed! Apparently quite a few Southern California Dealerships *cough*NormReevesHuntingtonBeachCalifornia*cough* thought that they could capitalize on the demand for the Fit and charge $2,000-$3,000 over MSRP. Catapulting the Fit into the price range of the more expensive hybrids like the Prius!! The bastards! Was this the end of my quest? Was I to be denied the wonder that is the Fit because of Dealership greed and arrogance? I felt like I had just taken the cutest girl out on a date, walked her to her door, leaned in for that first kiss only to have her slam the door shut in my face. Denied.
The Ending
But then a beacon of hope shined upon me, once again my fellow FITFREAKS came through. A fellow by the name of JDMCHRIS.COM was kind enough to be offering the Fit I wanted at MSRP! Zounds! A dealer that wasn't looking to rip me off!! Emboldened by this kind offer I went back to work in search of an even better deal. Emailing dealership after dealership, haggling here haggling there, I was finally able to sink my teeth into something even more appetizing, a brand new Black Fit Sport automatic for UNDER MSRP. Crazy! Could I really eat the whole cake and frosting too?
Apparently I could!
On March 20th I made my fateful trip to the Santa Ana Honda dealership where I was able to drive off in my blingingly bright Black Fit Sport Automatic, for under MSRP. How sweet of a deal was this? Not only was I able to complete my quest in purchasing this vehicle, I was able to meet all of the requirements I had. My zero-sum trade worked out perfectly.
Epilogue
The Fit still drives like a dream up to this day. Not only is the MPG awesome (34 MPG on average with 50/50 city/highway), my gas/insurance costs have dropped tremendously, it's cargo hauling capacity is superb, it looks great, it's stylish, it turns on a dime, and of course my wife approves of it. (Approves .. not loves .. *sigh* how can she not love this car!?)

My name is Robert Cantu. I'm in Southern California.
I bought the Fit for my wife. We are expecting our first kid in July and I wanted a roomy compact car. My wife can't drive well and already damaged 2 cars (see pics below). Myself being 6' 1" need a roomy car inside but my wife being a foot shorter than me needs something that's not big on the outside. I like less common cars and this was what I picked. Of course the headroom is much greater than the regular cars out there and that's an added benefit when babies are involved. The doors opening wide open are definitely a plus too. The airbags and superb braking are another. Too many pluses in this car. Oh and the ease of parking.
This car is also one of the best mpg cars I own. I don't have pics of myself and the Fit but I do have it with my truck (see below again). That thing gets me 10mpg. lol
I wanted my kid to be stunting a little so I did a few mods. Here's the list:
BMW 3 series HIDs and blacked out housing (ALL BLACK)
T1R intake
Cusco front and rear strutbars, Comp S coilovers
Spoon 16inch wheels, wing, antenna, reservoir covers
JDM style led taillights
Braille battery w billet mount
J's Racing c-pillar bar, 50RR titanium catback
Mugen window visor and door sills
35% tint all around
Maxxis 205/45/16 tires

My black fit
Hey! I just bought my black base fit just a bit under a month. I chose it because its a sweet looking car but also very roomy and practical. The reason i had to buy a new car is because i somehow totalled my 2000 crv in a parking lot along with another van.
I miss it and the b18 vtech head that i dropped into the crv. But now i got my new black FIT (: It caught my eye with its affordable price range, sporty look, and roominess. Ive always wanted to try something new and different from all those ek's and dc2's out there. I decided on the my black fit after i spent a week trying to find a white one. However i ended up taking the black one because its mean! I decided to go with the base model since i planned on putting my own mods and work into it. Of course i miss my stable crv... but now i got a punchy lil monster (:
Here is a pic of my fit! (: just a basic overall view... wish i washed the car more thoroughly

This is my fit's L15 engine and my one and only mod... My Fujita Short ram that i just installed yesterday! Haha it was pretty exciting to install it haha...

Ever wonder wat the headlight up close? haha here u go and look the hood is even open. Haha jsut a different type of

The sexy ass of my car! Look its shining fit sign (:

And finally a artistic shot of my car! Yes i love my car

I guess its fate that i crash my moded crv.... but now i got myself this gorgeous CAR! haha its practical, sporty and the best thing in the world(:
Future Mods:
Aspec axleback & unknown b pipe
Spoon duckbill carbon fiber spoiler
Tein s lowering springs
Volk te-37 bronze... if i have the money one day
haha heyy thnx for checking out my car and reading my lamo story (:

sup guys.. my name is chapman. Im from west covina, Ca. i love my fit and I'm glad i got it. i got this car for my self as an early b-day present in april cause i just couldn't wait till may 7th. i got the fit for many reasons. but i guess the most important reason is because i needed a new car to match my new life. i was living a hard life, fighting addiction and getting into trouble with the law. So i cleaned up my life, and worked hard. i wanted something to show for it so i got rid of my old car, that was filled with lots of bad memories, and got a Fit.. now I'm very proud of myself for what i have accomplished. my life is getting better and better everyday. My new car represents my new life.

Illusive's Entry (P.S. I need strut bars :D)
Alright, so I decided to wait until today to put in my submission. I was hoping to have a set of OEM Black Headlights on, but that has fallen through. I guess I'll start from the beginning.
My name is Justin, I’m from Calgary, Alberta, Canada (Oil and Gas capital of Canada w00t! And our beef is the best!!!) C-Spot FTW!!! Born and raised in the same area for my whole life, all 21 years of it
Before I got my Fit, I was driving a smart Fortwo with a bunch of Brabus upgrades. Lots of fun and great around the city, but just wasn't good for going out with friends and the service bills were quite expensive. Anyways, I was checking out the 2006 car show here and saw that they were finally bringing the Fit over. I remember seeing them all the time when I went to Hong Kong and always thinking that it would be great if we could get them over in North America. I figured I was going to end up with one in the not so distant future...
So in April, I put my smart up for sale on eBay while it was still hot, but those tards wouldn't let me sell it to anyone in the US even though I stated that it wasn't legal down there but that a conversion could be done at a place in California which I directed the buyer to do. They ended up pulling my auction 3 times, could have made good money selling it...oh well, still got a good deal out of it. Ended up selling locally when they made an offer I couldn't refuse.
So I went to my local Honda dealership and went for a quick test drive and familiarized myself with the car. I loved the way the car handles stock, but I knew it would be one helluva auto cross car with a few small suspension modifications. Not only that, it looked much better than its competition and provided cool new features that the competition didn’t have like the colour matched headlights. I also knew that there was a good aftermarket following for this car overseas so I figured it won’t take long for North American companies to catch on. After some more research and pondering, I finally put money down on a Milano Red Fit Sport. I almost took the one off the showroom floor that day, but then this couple came in and 'tried' to learn how to use the magic seats themselves. I've never seen a car rock like that in my life. Needless to say, that MR Fit was not going to be found in my garage after that little event. They informed me that a Vivid Blue Pearl Fit Sport would be arriving in the next week and suggested I put my money down on that one and if I didn't like the colour, I can wait for a MR one. Well when it got here, the colour surprised me and I decided to take this one. So late April in 2006, this is what I brought home:

After that, modding has been quite a blur and everything just kinda flowed together. Started off with the Fujitsubo Wagolis Axle Back Exhaust...my last mod to date is the Spoon B-Pipe. Here is a list of everything else in-between and pictures from different periods in time...
Interior:
11 piece colour matched trim kit
Chrome gauge trim
OEM velour floor mats
Tonneau cover
XM Satellite Radio
Mugen 5MT shift knob (new style)
Mugen blue stitch shift boot
Mugen blue stitch e-brake boot
Mugen MT pedals
Engine & Performance:
AEM blue anodized cold air intake
Spoon B-Pipe
Fujitsubo Wagolis axle back exhaust
Colour matched engine cover
T1R socks
Mugen anodized blue oil cap
Lighting & Security:
Helios 6000K HID headlights
CompuSTAR 2WSS alarm
Laminex yellow fog light protection film
JDM LED tail lights (smoked)
Wheels and Suspension:
Enkei RS7 17x7 +42 anthracite finish
Kumho SPT 205/40/17
Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs
Exterior:
3M clear bra
Spoon short antenna
20%/35%/50% window tint
VTi-S rear spoiler
JDM Honda Access window visors
FitFreak.net decals (distributor

BTW, did anyone notice that I don’t have any strut bars? Hint hint, nudge nudge
I could use a set for my Fit hehehehe...
I think that covers all of my mods...now for the pics!

After a year of drolling on Fit Freak and a month after placing an order I got my BOM 5M Fit on May 15th.....
But I digress......
About 10 days prior, I had another BOM 5M delivered from Indianapolis (to the Detroit area) but a 1/2 mile away from my work the driver clipped a car getting off the freeway. Regrettably I had to send her back.
Here's a shot of the damage. Later, I learned from the dealer that the damage estimate was $1800. As well as the bumper damage, the passenger fender was crinkled and pushed up on the a-pillar. The photo does not show this too well.
My son, Brett, said the color is not orange, but marigold. I thought he said magnolia...so while I waited for the second car to arrive I named her Maggie.
When gas was about two bucks a gallon I had my heart set on a Dodge Magnum. But as my budget was tight and as gas prices started to rise I started to look for alternatives. I wanted a hatchback as my trips to Lowe's and Costo sometimes left me with odd-sized items to bring home. I was also interested in good gas mileage but without paying a premium for a hybrid. Reliability and coolness were also a factor. I know I was asking a lot for a $15k car.
At this point, the Fit was not yet on my radar.
It's introduction at the 2006 North American International Auto Show (Detroit's auto show) and the great review in Car and Driver brought the Fit to my periphery. One night, about a year ago, I Googled "Honda Fit" and low and behold, Fit Freak popped up. Late night, after late night, of reading post after post convinced me that this was my car. The aftermarket mods were cool and having a loyal fan base at Fit Freak meant a lot to me. I have an IBM ThinkPad and they have an equally loyal and fanatical user group (http://forum.thinkpads.com/).
My first Honda was a mid 70's yellow Civic CVCC just like in the Fit brochure. This was fate. I now began to plot how to make my Fit a reality. Let's see....my real estate partner owed me some money....bingo...the down payment....my son's pre-school ends this June as he starts kindergarten this fall...bingo...the monthly nut with my down payment will be just a bit less than my wife and I were paying for preschool. This was my shot!!! My 12-year old Dodge Stratus was ready to be retired.
My wife needed little convincing as her first car was an orange Opel with a stick. I waffled between Storm Silver and Vivid Blue Pearl, but Karyn's first BOM posts (the car, not her) from April of 2006 sealed the deal.
Now to find a Blaze Orange Metallic Fit with a stick. For those of you looking for Fits, this is not the easiest car to locate. I e-mailed all the Detroit-area dealers and not one in stock. Some dealers told me it would take months to get one. The closest Honda dealer to my house said it could be 5 months or more.
But one Detroit-area dealer said "no problem" to my June 1st deadline and as a bonus would sell me the car at $200 below sticker. A few weeks into my wait he said he found one, but that another sales associate at the dealership would be getting that one and that he would continue to try to do a "dealer trade" for another one.....that pissed me off. I soon began to realize that no other sane dealer would trade his only BOM stick, so I hopped on AutoTrader.com and took matters in to my own hands. As luck would have it, a dealer in Indianapolis had one it stock and would deliver it at no charge. So five days later my car was on its way. My salesman said not to worry....an 82 year-old guy would be driving the car up from Indy and would take good care of her.
As you can see from the above photo the driver had a bit of fender bender getting off the freeway. While the car sat a my work's parking lot I called my original salesman. After I had already committed to my Indy Fit, his sales associate decided to relinquish his Fit. The stars were still in alignment as no one had claimed that car. So before my Indy Fit left for her long drive home I had another one exactly like her in route to a Southfield, MI dealership. It took eleven days, but Maggie II arrived.
So far she is pretty stock. I sprung for a JDM coin holder, some nice Rubbermaid floor mats from Target and am hoping for a Zeta dead pedal for Father's Day.
My 5-year old son, Brett, took this photo the day I got Maggie.

Here's a few photos after her first bath.

Cole, our 2-year old, helped give Maggie her first bath. Brett helped too, but had to go inside for his bath before I got out my camera.

The last photo is of my new bowling ball. I got it last summer in anticipation of getting my BOM Fit. The ball has worked well as I rolled my first 700 series this spring. Our team took first place too!!

Well that's my story. Hope I didn't bore anyone.
Wish me luck,
Paul

Currently, no I don't have any rubbing issues EXCEPT when I take a turn extremely fast AND hit a bump at the same time...other than that, no real major rubbing problems, normal driving over bumps are OK as well as slow speeds over speed bumps. Hope that helps.
