Honda pulls out of F1, puts team up for sale

NY Times Honda Pulls Out of Formula One Racing

Official F1 site Honda put Formula One team up for sale

I can't believe it. First Super Aguri, now the Honda factory team.

Hopefully they will be back soon.

Sad news but it might be a blessing in disguise. Honda hasn't been competetive in years. Why waste money in a down economy to lose?

Honda might be doing something right that the rest of the manufacturers might want to consider or are still in denial about. Come back when the economy turns around and they have a shot at winning.

Pulls out of F1 the day after the FOTA meeting and the agreement on standardized engines? Coincidence?

Sorry for the double post, I didn't see your thread. I didn't even know where to post this thread. But same here not much response.

Hopefully they will be back in F1 soon.

mods, if possible you can merge both threads. Thank you.

Maybe the Fitfreak comunity can get together and buy this team? Think of it: a Honda Fit F1 team?

I hope the team will stay as a Honda team, even if it does not stay as a factory team. But I hope the new owners will get some support from Honda so the Honda name does not disapears from the F1 world.

Rumors are that Honda will sell for $1USD, but Honda will only sell if you're able to keep everyone employed and keep the team in good standing.

The team if bought, will definitely not be staying as a Honda team no matter what. Honda has promised to supply the team until March, but no where close to what they would originally supply if they stayed.

Honda as a manufacturer is out of F1 and is also out as a engine supplier indefinitely. If the team is bought, chances are they will have a ferrari engine / drivetrain package and I would expect the car to run quite horribly without redesigning the entire chassis. But with the direction F1 is taking, I think Honda made the right choice in pulling out.

i agree especially since F1 may be going over to a single engine provider, which will drive away some more manufacturers

Why would Ferrari and Daimler want to stay in it for that matter. Part of the allure is to have your engine, your technology at the fore.

FIA sucks

exactly, i think they will fight the FIA on this so hard and if they don't get their way F1 will go the way of CART and just go away...
