THERE IS ONE CABIN LEFT AT CANEY CREEK! ITS CABIN #2 AND IS A ONE BED WITH FULL AMMENITIES!
I'm actually surprised about this but someone out there has a chance to get in on this and go and have a place to stay....with the group

Wish I was there to go along. Something I have yet to do. Wish there were some members here to tackle some Japanese dragons with me.
So many mountain roads here, just a pain to get to sometimes because of traffic and quite a few I have come across are 1 laners with 2 lane traffic. Makes for some hairy moments.

Cabin #2 is gone but....
...there are other cabins in the area or you could get a tent area with us on the grounds. Also, there's motels about 25 minutes away, max and they're very easy to get to and from, trust me! We're almost a week away and everyone is excited for this run on the other 2 forums, The Contour Enthusiasts Group (the main site) SOUTHEASTERN FORUM and www.xceedspeed.com UNDER EVENTS FORUM. Xceedspeed was invited last year and it netted us some real good guys and cool rides. A modded Fiero, 240SX w/SR20DET-400hp, Lancer Ralliart, my buddy Derek with a "loaner" Saab 9-3 (long story) VW Golf GTI, brand new STI, WRX wagon w/STi motor and I think that's it, well myself but I'm on both sites though. I had a modded 07' Mini Cooper S. If you go over to either site you'll get to know some of the guys over there and gals too. The Contour site has the master list of who's going, some of you guys are on that list too.
A little over a week to go
A little over a week to go
Cabin #8 is booked up but the "economy" cabins are available, two of them. I don't think they've got bathrooms or showers or maybe that's just the ONE she's got like that. I know the regular, base cabins have a bathroom, give her a call if you need to go guys/gals, we're almost a week away from leaving
We're up to 27 cars for sure, but don't sweat it, two of the economy cabins are available as of this morning. We're even had 2 cars join in the last 2 days
I'm really looking forward to this, can't wait...literally

Congrats on the new ride Evan, sorry we got our signals crossed on the Progress bar. Hope you get to drive that car as much as possible before the Dragon, just so its broken in a bit more. We broke a brand new STI in out there last year, so this is nothing new for us, the streak is now at 2 years in a row with a brand, spankin' new car to Slay the Dragon
Less than 24 hrs till I leave!

I'll only be able to get in very late on Friday night. Look for an '07 Milano Red Fit with 16" Honda Accessory wheels and Ohio plates. I also have 4 stickers around the rear plate, one of them is a NASA sticker. I've got cabin 10...see ya there! JJ
When/Where to meet up?
Hey guys I'm planning on driving up from Chattanooga, TN Saturday morning and should be able to make it by 10:30-11ish, what times will you guys be meeting and where on Saturday afternoon? I know where the pull-off/overlook area on the dragon is and of course the store/restaurant/tree of shame. Were you also gonna run the Skyway sometime on Saturday? Just wanna get an idea so hopefully I can join the lineup. I'll be in a '08 Milano Red Sport with dark tint, black fog housings, and a University of TN "UT" license plate, hope to see you there.
Sorry I haven't gotten around to posting pics, but there are pics up on killboy.com photos - The Original Photographer from US129 Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap I don't wanna bore anyone with the other cars, but I'll put up a couple pics anyways.
Our turnout from here was JJ with the heavily modded 08' Fit with great brakes, Evan with his brand, spankin' new Genesis coupe' and there was another GE out there, don't know if he was from here or not but it was a red one.
My Fit performed BETTER than expected and I have the scared tires to prove it!

Hate to bump and old thread but if you are doing this again next year and want it to be big like Team Integra's meets then I would start an event thread now.
I live about 30 minutes away from the gap and it is my home away from home. You can count me in on any meets up there.

We're doing it again for sure, this year we had 26 cars, so its getting pretty big already, not to say we don't more. The 2011 run is going to be Oct 6th thru the 9th, the 2nd weekend in October, that's when we're always going to be doing it. I've been setting this up since 2003 where we had 3 cars total, that was 4 cars ago for me
I'm still an active member where it started for us, The Contour Enthusiasts Group and also a member of www.xceedspeed.com as well. Next year we could and should break the 30 car barrier, thus needing additional lodging which we'll have as there's other places to stay in the area where we stay which is Tellico Plains Tenn.
We'd love to have you out with us, it appears there's about 2-3 other guys here whom are pretty serious about joining us too.

As a brand new GE owner, and new to the aftermarket upgrade hobby (lifestyle? haha), I am super excited to join you in 2011. You can count me in with my 2010 Milano Red Mugen GE!!
And it gives me a nice goal to have my planned upgrades completed by then.

Its only 281 more days to go, so you've got time for your mods, btw, what are they? Also, where in Ohio are you? The reason I ask is because our Detroit crew (I just moved to Chicago back in Dec 2009) makes it down every year and we just come straight down I-75. They usually leave the metro Detroit area around 6:00 a.m. so you could meet up with them somewhere on I-75 in Ohio. These guys run on-time, so you'll not be waiting for them for too long.
This is going to be our 9th annual run and promises to be even larger then this year (26 cars total, but not all at once or together) We stay here Caney Creek Village in Tellico Plains, Tennessee I've been going there since 2003 and the owner, Dixie, takes great care of our group, southern hospitality at its finest and the prices are very good, we pay the advertised rate w/o tax. The cabins are anywhere from $50 a night for single bed, $60 for double bed and $70 for the larger cabin which sleeps up to 6 or 8. There's also "economy" cabins which have NO shower and some are even "more economical", no shower or bathroom. That's no biggie if you've only gotta go #1 and as far as the showers go, well, you could use mine, its not a problem, just bring your own towels.
If you or anyone else have questions, feel free to ask them here or drop me a PM
I'll definitely look into meeting the detroit group, when it gets closer to actual trip planning.
As for upgrades, right now I'm still in the asthetic and sound phase. Full Mugen body package, Honda alloy wheels, stereo, speakers, window tint, LED interior lights, dash trim, etc. I'm thinking I'll wait till spring to start with suspension and engine. I'm going to work with a local racing shop in Toledo to put together the right combination of conservative upgrades to keep it subtle but spicey.
