Post Temple Dragway with the Fit

Last night me and Ricepuddin and a few of his buddies headed up to the Temple Academy Dragway, unfortunlatly I was the only one willing to race! We had a Stock WRX, Ricepuddin's CL type-S, and a Civic w/ some kind of engine swap.. not to sure, and me of course with the illusive FIT!
Now I have never been to a dragrace in my life and muchless dragraced, but I think I was able to put down some decent numbers.. I will first just type it out
and later today I will probably scan the slips but I dont think there will be anything for you to see also Rice puddin may have a video but if not he definatly has pix!

--Round 1--
-Fit vs Satun Ion-

Fit Saturn
17.2842 16.7344 <-- 1/4 ET
2.5686 2.7083 <-- 60ft
76.09 62.30 <-- 1/4 MPH
11.1058 10.8488 <-- 1/8 ET
62.64 65.83 <-- 1/8 MPH
1.2636 1.4985 <-- Reaction
.3149 <-- Finish margin

I had him till the 8th mile, the car had a custom catback exhaust and thats all I was able to tell, he had steelies but Iam not to sure what kind of rubber.

--Round 2--
-Fit vs Lancer-

Lancer Fit
1.1509 1.2319 <--Reaction
2.5837 2.7226 <-- 60ft
11.0956 11.3346 <-- 1/8 ET
62.83 63.02 <-- 1/8 MPH
17.2494 17.4874 <-- 1/4 ET
78.66 78.06 <-- 1/4 MPH
.3190 <-- Finish Margin

I had a crappy start and it was down hill from there, if we had gone again Iam sure I would of won.. This guy ran with a pair of 12s and amp and huge chrome wheels, no mods except for removing the air filter.

--Round 3--
-Fit vs xA-

Fit xA
.8380 .4140 <-- Reaction
11.0930 11.589 <-- 1/8 ET
62.59 62.50 <-- 1/8 MPH
2.5817 2.7800 <-- 60ft
17.2360 17.6977 <-- 1/4 ET
76.54 78.48 <-- 1/4 MPH
.0377 <-- Finish Margin

The xA had an intake just like me and springs.. so we were pretty well matched except it sounded like that guy had alot of expeirance! This was my first time to a track and to race so.. yeah..

--Round 4--
-Fit vs xA-

Fit xA
.8165 .8146 <-- Reaction
11.3411 11.3243 <-- 1/8 ET
62.33 63.97 <-- 1/8 MPH
2.8178 2.6241 <-- 60ft
17.4859 17.4561 <-- 1/4 ET
76.48 79.23 <-- 1/4 MPH
.0317 <-- Finish Margin

VERY VERY close race all the way thru, even closer finishing results, maybe I will go again in the future.. Ricepuddin will have pix up after he gets off work today and I will probably scan the slips later today..

PS: Sorry about the crappy formating.

You didnt post 60 foots. Your times are really slow (sorry) if you posted 60 foots I could figure out an estimated 1/4 mile time.

Reaction
60 foot
1/8th @ MPH
1/4 @ MPH.

Thats how I post slip info.

I'm assuming the Fit has a 5 speed stick shift? Those are pretty good numbers for a little 1500 cc engine. I had a 71 Pinto way back before dirt that had a 2000 CC engine and a 4 speed stick. It could run about 17.5 in the 1/4 mile when it was stock. I got it to run 17.0 at 77 MPH, with the addition of a header and better intake manifold, and no air cleaner (at the track). It had the potential of 16.9 at the time, which was pretty good for early 1970's. By the way, I did see a few on line articles that had the Fit with stick shift in the 16 second range (16.8 or like that) and the auto trans around 17.7. Motor Week had an auto that ran 18.0, but I suspect that they didn't use the paddles. Glad to see that someone has finally run the Fit at the drags.

I dont really think he needs a slip. If the EF CRX can run 16.5 stock back in 89 I dont see why the Fit cant. Similar power and weight. New and better designed motors. Its all driver. Which is why I asked for 60 foots. 60's make the 1/4 mile times.

If hes getting 2.5's 2.4's in the 60's then thats why hes running 17's. If hes getting 2.1's and what not he cant driver after the 60's. (bad shifting)

Well hell if thats the case my Cl runs a 12 flat with just I/H/E.

Im sceptical because its the internet. Claims can be made with out proof. And as much as i love Honda i would not believe thier claims either.

P.S.

Thanks for the photos Just for yuks and grins, next time you run at the drags at night, try running without the headlights on. When I ran my 4 cyl's at the drags, I noted that having the lights on drained a bit of power. Don't know if that makes a difference in todays' cars, but you might wanna try it just to see what happens. Thanks again for the pics!
