SRS sensor corrosion
SRS sensor corrosion
Hello,
A few years back, we had a leak in our Fit with water pooling in the back driver's side floor during heavy steady rains. After four trips to the dealer to find and repair the leak, the issue was not resolved. Mold was growing on the carpet and we were experiencing headaches and upper respiratory issues. Honda of America was notified but nothing became of it. So, we ended up ripping out the carpet and drilling a drain hole in the floor, which alleviated the standing water. Recently, the SRS light came on and the dealer deemed the issue was a corroded SRS sensor due to "water infiltration.' However, after leaving the dealer with the SRS sensor unfixed, the SRS light is off again. The mechanic gave a vague answer as to whether or not this meant the issue was fixed. I've read on these threads that often the connection is just loose. I'm wondering if that could have been the issue which means the car's air bags are safe or that the whole thing is busted and the air bags won't work in an accident. Does anyone have any insight on the issue?
