07 fit only starts with starter fluid. Dies unless it gets up to temp

Hey, I've got an 07 fit that turns over but wont start unless I spray starter fluid in the intake and then it dies unless I leave my foot on the pedal long enough to get it up to temp. Then it runs normal. I thought this might mean something to do with the fuel system but it only has 75000 miles and I read that the fuel pump and filter are generally thought to be good for the life of the car. Also a pain to replace. Any thoughts as to what might be the issue? in the weeks prior to this problem it did sputter a little bit as if it wanted to stall when it was cold. Could it be weak spark?

Thanks
-Rand

One thing I might add and hopefully someone can help, is that the cold temperature light would always come on back when the car would start and the hot temperature light came on a few times while driving prior to the starting issue. I checked and the cooling system was fine. Is it possible that a faulty temperature sensor of some kind would cause the car to not get enough fuel at start up? This is the cars first winter in a northern climate after spending it's life in California. hoping to have some idea of what might be going on before I throw a new fuel pump at it.
